Yeah, but who ever wants to do what they hate when they can avoid it? I mean, I know I put off interviews as long as I can. Which is probably one of the better things about English boarding schools.

But hey, not everyone finds Homework easy enough to just sail through like some of us.

People who rather not have to keep it looming over their heads until the last minute. Which is to say, most of the student body thinks that but still refuses to do their work.

They could ask for help.

Really? Ask for help? You're looking for common sense amongst teenagers? Why Ms. Lalonde, I think you're looking in all the wrong places for that kind of thing.

[He chuckles as they approach three broomsticks, opening the door to let her in first.]

I'm putting hope that one day they will see the light and finally realize that they are not obviously alone in a cruel man eat man world. Overdramatic as it is, it isn't really going to finish your essay due the next morning.

[She smiles lightly as she steps inside.] Gentleman as always I see.

You mean, by the time they're working in their jobs for the ministry or down on the corner shop?

[He gives a cool grin, as he comes in behind her.]

My parents might not have taught me much. But they taught me what's important.

Assuming that those who are running around like headless chickens will make it to ministry. But, I suppose I can easily be proved wrong. Perhaps they're just late bloomers.

You'll get all the girl's swooning. We've been told that chivalry is dead.

Haven't been to the ministry of late have you? If there's a place that collects headless chickens, it's pretty much them.

[His grin widens.]

Well then, at least I know I'm doing all the right things for swooning girls.

I tend to not try and be involved. [The Lalonde family are not exactly the most pro-Ministry family.]

You best be careful. We tend to flock.

Dad dealt with them a lot on his projects. On the few times I got to go with him. They spent a lot of time running around like the world was going to end...Hmm, well considering the time. But really I've been there since and it's pretty much the same.

I've never had a problem with pretty girls wanting to flock around me.

I'll take your word for it and promptly avoid it with my entire being. I had no interest in working anything related. The amount of social gatherings I'd probably end up going to would just cut into actual working time.

You say that, but one day you'll find one you want to keep and you won't know what to do with the others.

Dad managed to work and be social at the same time, you never know. You look like one hell of a juggler. Besides, that's what a P.A is for.

Me? Find a girl I want to keep? Yeah, can't see that happening.

It isn't so much I couldn't handle it. I just feel like a job where I don't have to force myself into social situations like that is more suited for me. I can only handle idiots for so long.

Oh no. I'm dreadfully sorry. I didn't realize you were more interested in the more masculine types. [She's so teasing.]

Well I know what that's like at least. It's probably why I stay up so late, to avoid them.

[He smirks.]

Funny, I don't think I'm the settling down type.

I wouldn't say settling down, persay. Think of it as just a permanent client whom you just so happen to have deeper bonds with. Settling down is a terrible term, in my opinion. It sounds like a one way trip to turning into a trophy wife or a be at home mom. Rubbish.

Permanent client? You know, you're starting to make me feel almost cheap.

[He does however chuckle at her thoughts on settling down.]

Just makes me think of being calmer, or I don't know, being tamed. That being said, even if you do 'settle down' I really doubt you'd be a trophy or a stay at home mom. They might be though.

[He smirks.]

Heavens, no. I don't mean to do so. I merely thought a change in word choice might be more encouraging.

[She chuckles lightly.] Well, they would have it easy, so they can't complain. Not that I would let them slack. I would never consider anyone who couldn't pull their own weight around. How dreadful would it be to have conversation and I had nothing about them to gloat about. I do love gloating rights.

One thing I've never need; is encouragement.

Well that's just made it obvious. Clearly you're going to have to marry me. I'm a genius so there's something to gloat about, and I come with my own butler.

[He gives her a very gentlemanly smile, but his eyes are full of amusement.]

Why had I not thought of that sooner? Of course, it was in front of me all along. I would say we must wed post haste, but I don't think the world could handle us in such a relationship. The amount of genius and outstanding abilities that we exude would cause some kind of problem, I'm sure.

I don't think the world is quite ready for that caliber of quality, my dear friend.

I just remembered they were meant to be having something to eat

We'd never be out of the muggle gossip magazines, that is for certain.

But you know. It breaks my heart that we just can't be because the world isn't ready for us.

[He holds out a chair for her to sit in]

We are obviously good job at this.

Oh yes. Muggles have such interesting gossip. My mother collects the magazines and it's truly interesting. I don't think I've ever read so much ridiculous poppycock until I read my first teenager 'zine.

Maybe one day. But it is not today.

[She takes the seat, thanking him.]

You should read the American ones. I actually think I'm in a couple. For scandalous teen parties over the summer break.

[After she thanks him he goes and sits at his own seat and glosses over the menu.]

And you know it's almost a complete shame. But really I think we're better like this, makes for an interesting rumor at least.

I do enjoy our banter and I feel like deeper emotions may ruin it. Perhaps it's better this way.

Anything that makes celebrities seem like normal people I guess. But hey, could always be worse.

You know, you have a point. Our talks wouldn't nearly be as involved if we had to keep staring longingly into each other's eyes.

Celebrities aren't normal people. Didn't you hear?

[She tries to wave someone over to take their order.]

You would positively make me speechless everytime and we'd never have a stunning conversation such as this again. It would be a problem, indeed.

Really? Well. I've always thought I looked normal. But then again, not so much of a celebrity here.

You know, you're right. And we can't have that now can we. Because as much as I like hearing myself speak, you aren't al that bad on the ears either.
