WHO: Henry and Marina
TONE: Sad, depressing, angry bittersweet maybe?
RATING: PG for Marina's potty mouth
WHEN: Thursday the 27th
WHERE: Hogwart's Boathouse
WHAT: Thanks to ~*~shenanigans~*~ Henry blurted out that he's Marina's brother and now they're meeting to discuss this whole mess
STATUS: COMPLETE
NOTE: Marina is still using Jake's body.
This was not how he thought, or wanted it to go. He didn't want to blurt it out during some weird magical shit going on that had apparently made Marina switch bodies with some kid. He didn't also intend to share what the man had said they could both do. He didn't even know why he'd said it. It was like his body just moved on its own, and suddenly, he was spilling the beans for anyone reading the journal to see. If the circumstances were different, he would probably made the association between her wishing he'd tell the truth and his outburst, but as things were, his mind was too busy with the current situation.
And so, after a little stroll the fields to find the boathouse, he was waiting for Marina to appear, so they could... Do whatever it is you did when you met your long lost siblings. He knew Marina wouldn't go for a Hollywood-style reunion with hugs and tears and talks about missing pieces being found, and frankly that was ok with Henry. Under the circumstances, that sort of thing would have been beyond inappropriate and out of place. He was glad he managed to get it out in the open though. At least now the telling had been taken care of. Now, it was just a matter of whether or not it had been a good thing or a bad thing.

It was safe to say that a part of her felt angry. Almost betrayed- as if she hadn't already been betrayed by him. This was just salt in the wound, if anything. But it was still upsetting. She just couldn't believe it though. A brother. Every time she thought about it, the fire died down and the numbness took over. She didn't know how to even fucking feel about it. It just... Why?
That was the kind of question that plagued her mind as she made it through the castle and towards the boathouse. It was the biggest driving force, if anything. She had to find him and... get this sorted out. She needed answers.
When she made it to the boathouse, she stood in front of the door for several minutes. She wasn't scared- far from it. She just... didn't know what to expect. She didn't know what to say. Or do. Suddenly she just didn't know how to act around this person who claimed he was her brother. It made her angry. It didn't help that she wasn't herself. It just made it all the worse.
But that's about when she decided that she would be as much of herself as she could be in this stupid, useless little body. When she pushed the door open, her- well, his- wand was out and pointed at Henry's face. Because that's about when she decided she was angry. Pissed off. At everything. At him, her father, her mother. This stupid fucking excuse of an existence.
"Start talking, now." How she managed to sound so menacing with Jake's voice was a testament to just how angry she really was.

And then there was her request. He almost opened his mouth to ask her what did she want to know, but that would be a useless question. Of course he knew what she wanted to know. Everything. She wanted to hear him actually say what he'd told her, what she'd dismissed. No, that wasn't completely right. She wanted to hear his whole story. That was what he'd probably want to know, at least.
He raised his hands, palms showing to show he wouldn't do anything, and after lowering them to his side, began speaking. "My mother met him at a party. Said she was drunk, and maybe high, but... Long story short, she slept with him. She didn't really know him, so when she found out she was pregnant, she couldn't contact him. She had me, and raised me on her own. We moved away to France when I was... four, and we've been there every since." He paused for a moment, to remind himself that she wouldn't care about any extra details he could give about his life in France. He had to stick to the basics that were relevant to her for now. He adjusted his gaze so he staring at her straight in the eyes, and continued. "This summer, I finally managed to convince her to tell me about him. Our biological father. She told me she'd actually found a way to reach him before we moved away, but he hadn't been interested in me, so... She gave up. I managed to get her to give me what she knew about him, and I tried to find him. And I did. He was in jail. I went to visit him, told him who I was... And he wasn't happy. Started screaming that he'd told my mother to keep me the hell away from him... And then he started rambling about some other woman he'd slept with, after my mother apparently. He said she'd started screaming at him about a daughter they had that was, to quote him, 'some sort of freaky witch'. That's when I found out about you. I got him to tell me what he knew, which was really just your name, and... Well, I figured if you were a witch, you were going to school here, so I transferred. Came here trying to find you."
When he was through, he took a deep breath, and kept his eyes on Marina steady. "Is that what you wanted to know, or is there more?"

"No, that's enough," she spat once he was finished. "But what the hell were you expecting, anyway?" she asked, and she kept the wand pointed at his face, hand gripping it so tightly that her fingers turned white. "What was the point of even coming here and telling me this shit? Did you think I would be happy to have a fucking brother or something?"
It came out harshly, but she didn't care. Because she didn't want a brother. She didn't want any kind of family. The only person she could look out for was herself. She didn't need this. This just... fucked everything up.

But really, meeting her and seeing her had been all he'd wanted since finding out about her. And that wish was satisfied. For all intents and purposes, he had no other reason to stay; which was a gross over-simplification of course, as he'd come to like Hogwarts and wanted to stay, if only for the contact with his British roots. But that was neither here or there.
He kept his eyes steady on Marina, and with strong wish in his mind that she'd lower the wand and calm down, he spoke. "Nothing. I wasn't expecting anything, really. I wanted to meet you, to see you. I did. That's all I expected from this." There was a pause, and with a sigh, he added. "Look, Marina... If you don't want to see me, or talk to me again, I understand." And he did. These were news that were a bomb to anyone, and the way they'd been delivered was probably the worst that could have happened. "Just say the word, and I'll walk out of here, I won't reply to you in the journals or make any posts directed at you... Or whatever. If you want to talk to me now or later, them... We will. If you never want to, then we won't."
Really, that was the best he could offer. Space. He'd invaded her life in a way that nobody should even think of, it was the least he could do.

It was a few long seconds before she finally found the words. Because this was just... She hated this. So much, and she just wished that it wasn't happening. Why did he have to come into her life at all? Why had he even bothered? She didn't need him, or want him.
"Then that's what I want," she said, and her voice was low and firm. "But only after you do make a post. Because you fucking told me in an unfiltered message. Tell them you were wrong. Tell them you had the wrong person. I don't want anyone to know we're... Related." She spat the word venomously. "I don't fucking care how you do it, just. Fix this. I don't have family. I don't NEED family. And after that, you never talk to me again, got it?"

"Fine," she said. "Whatever. I don't care."
She turned around and moved to leave, before stopping. Without turning around, she said, "And stop talking about me to people. I don't ever want to hear you mention me ever again. To anyone."

And he turned his back to her, walking slowly away from her even though there was no exit to the boathouse from that side of the building. He really just didn't want to watch Marina walk away, and he needed a place to sit for a while and digest this whole... Thing that had happened.
