Preparing for try outs.
WHO: Tony, but open to all.
TONE: Easy going.
RATING: PG-13 for possible language
WHEN: August 9th
WHERE: Hogwarts grounds. Roughly where the first years are taught how to ride a broom.
WHAT: Tony's getting ready to be a captain before general try out for quidditch start.
STATUS: Ongoing!
With Tony being the Captain of Ravenclaw's team this year. Tony decided to take a break from homework and general geniusing, to sit out in the autumn sun while doing some general broom maintenance out on the grass.
He's absorbed in his work; readjusting twigs, shifting his foot stands and getting on and testing how it moves a few feet off the air.
He's mumbling to himself during the entire process.
"What I wouldn't give for an iPod to work here sometimes"
Is one of the few things he can be heard mumbling aside from extensive thoughts on how the broom should hand'e when he does this thing or that thing to it.
One thing is for sure, he seems to be quite in his element playing with the broom.

"Just flying isn't enough. even if we ignore the whole thing about me being captain. I'm still on the quidditch team, I need to have good speed and handling. Especially when I'm going to be putting myself in as chaser. I need to be able to get out of the way of others and fast."
He finally looks up at the taller boy, a bit of broom wax on his cheek from a careless hand movement.
"Or is something like that beyond you?"
no subject
"Quidditch isn't a sport for intellectuals. And neither is winning the house cup stimulating in any capacity. So why spend your time on it?"
no subject
Tony picks up the broom and looks at it, moving it around in his hands as he looked at it from all angles.
"I might not have built all the actual parts, but I've taken what I can from other brooms. Stark brooms just to avoid lawsuits. And made something that will suit any and all requirements I have.
I also love flying, it's a rush I can get legally and on my own without any real hassle. Being in the air, is real freedom."

"You could fly on your own time, not necessarily for the Quidditch team. You could pursue these things at your leisure instead of at their command."

Tony stands up, then puts the broom on his seat, as he gives a little stretch.
"When I'm 21, I have the ability to take control of Stark Industries. If I have experience of leading and managing the Ravenclaw team, and even more. Bring them to be the reining champions. Then it's going to be a lot harder for the board of directors to say I don't have what it takes to run the company"

He asks in all sincerity but like most things it comes out rather antagonistic.
no subject
"You know. If I didn't know you were, more socially inept than, you know. A common potato, I'd probably be offended by that."
He then sighs at him.
"You're missing the bigger picture. Quidditch captain's have to be able to follow how their team are going at anyone time. In order to pass out new game plays at a moments notice. There's also having to come up with individual training plans for each of the team members, all playing to their strengths and ironing out weaknesses. Being on the team is easy. Being a captain isn't."

As much as Tony annoys him, he cannot pretend not to appreciate a good plan of action. Nor fail to admit to his own misunderstandings.

Because in the end, Tony is still Tony.

"Hey, even I have limits, I'm not going to chase every skirt."
