Preparing for try outs.

 WHO: Tony, but open to all.
TONE: Easy going.
RATING: PG-13 for possible language
WHEN: August 9th
WHERE: Hogwarts grounds. Roughly where the first years are taught how to ride a broom.
WHAT: Tony's getting ready to be a captain before general try out for quidditch start.
STATUS: Ongoing! 


With Tony being the Captain of Ravenclaw's team this year. Tony decided to take a break from homework and general geniusing, to sit out in the autumn sun while doing some general broom maintenance out on the grass. 

He's absorbed in his work; readjusting twigs, shifting his foot stands and getting on and testing how it moves a few feet off the air.

He's mumbling to himself during the entire process.

"What I wouldn't give for an iPod to work here sometimes"

Is one of the few things he can be heard mumbling aside from extensive thoughts on how the broom should hand'e when he does this thing or that thing to it.

One thing is for sure, he seems to be quite in his element playing with the broom.

"Total immersion therapy. If I can get you used to flying, I don't need to shove you in a cage when we go overseas."

Tony pats the broom, almsot fondly.

"You know, really I should be insulted by your lack of faith. But really, you also think I'm going to kill myself building the roadster. Prozac, is not going to kill you, just saying."

That's handy! I keep a notebook of all my favorite moves and I have a book of Quidditch plays. I mark ones I want to try and ones I have tried and how successful I was at them. Uh..and I write down if I got injured and how.

[She kind of sags with relief.]

Oh, whew! I always get worried about that every season. I'd be pretty bummed if I lost out on being Seeker. Not that the other positions aren't interesting or anything..I just like everything that goes with Seeking.

[hairflyingheartpounding]

[Rapunzel will slowly approach, and then lean over his shoulder to whisper.]

That's a very nice broom.

[arrogantalloy]

Tony leans back from where he's sitting to look up at her. Resting his broom on his lap as he does.

"Music would be pretty damn handy about now. But don't you worry, bubbling brew. I've got ideas of my own for working up the Claw's for tryouts."

He flashes her a charming grin.

"I'll be seeing you for try outs, I hope?"

[arrogantalloy]

"Apple has a theory that their stuff is intuitive. So I'm sure you could manage without someone over your shoulder."

He gives a vague shrug.

"Been like every other year, Homework, food confiscation, and teachers who may or may not be nursing ulcers."

[arrogantalloy]

He grins more.

"To be honest, if I could talk him into it, there should be some prize in it for me. It would be like actually finding El Dorado without a map."

[greenmoonrising]

"I've tried Prozac, it does jack," he answered with a huff, lifting one knee to prop his chin up on as he continued to watch Tony work with the broom. "Have you tested that yet?"

You're tiny, you're fast. Everyone's seen you out there and knows better if you ask me.

Even if a First year gets into their head. They never make it onto a house team. So really, it's kind of always in the bag for you.

[arrogantalloy]

[Tony's head snaps to look at her, having not expected someone to just show up behind him and almost in his ear. But he's quick enough to give her a big welcoming grin.]

Well if it isn't little miss sunshine. I wondered why it was so bright out today.

[He looks down at the broom and pats it.]

Thanks, I re-made it myself.

[hairflyingheartpounding]

[Her smile falters at the sunshine comment -- she's not in much of a mood for flirting -- but returns at what he informs her about his broom.]

Wow, brilliant! What did you change, or-or improve?

[speterman]

And then there was Peter, oogling and ogling both Tony and his broom. Once a Stark fanboy, always a Stark fanboy. Hope you don't mind company, Tony, because Peter doesn't seem to think you do. He offers a warm smile before sitting down next to him.

"Woah, that looks pretty intense."

He tilts his head to the side a fraction of an inch as he stares.

[arrogantalloy]

"Then how about a puppy or chocolate.... More time with Gamzee." He shrugs, and moves on.

He lifts the broom and starts to inspect it.

"Before leaving for here I did. But not since with the tweeks I've just made to it. But hey. There's a seventy five, eighty percent chance that this will turn out well. When you factor in a ten percent margin for being at Hogwarts and another ten for actual error. I'm pretty confident."

[arrogantalloy]

Well.

[Tony misses her smile falter, even if she had said she wasn't in the mood for flirting, Tony would have just dismissed his words as just being friendly. He lifts it up for her to see. As he talks he changes its angles so she
can see everything.

Structurally; the handle is from the Stark 44-speedstrike. The bristles from Stark's Revertor 13. And I moved the foot stand up about an inch and a half.

Cosmetically; I moved the Stark logo to the kickstand, and as you can see, painted it bronze and blue. Because you know, House pride is great for moral, don't you think? Because, I do.

Huh... That's really neat. I don't think I really understand all of it, but just the fact that you figured all that out.

And yeah, house pride is great! You're Quidditch Captain for Ravenclaw this year, right?

[arrogantalloy]

Well, being less of a nerd about it. I switched bits around to make it faster and better on turns.

[He runs a hand through his hair. All his time with other Ravenclaw's means he forgets that some people have no clue what he talks about most of the time.]

That's right, Goldilocks. I've got the badge and the very bossy voice that comes with the job. You trying out for the Pufflehuffs this year?


[He knows it's hufflepuffs. But pufflehuffs is more fun to say.]

Oh! Excellent stuff, then!

[It gets a giggle out of her, at least, so she can't mind too much, right?]

Nah. I love to fly, but I'm not sure I'd be the Quidditch sort.

[arrogantalloy]

"Well, Stars-in-our-eyes. That would be because this is, one pretty intense broom."

Tony glances at him then gives him a smirk. He knew the fourth year idolized him, and Tony certainly didn't hate that, but it didn't mean he didn't play up to it a little.


Or a lot.

"You'll forgive me for not watching you take it on a test run then - does funny things to my stress if I see you suddenly go plummeting."

[arrogantalloy]

Very excellent.

[It's either all his charm, or the fact it's just a funny word that's got her giggling for sure.]

Oh I don't know about that, you're like a small bird, you'd probably be pretty good at being a seeker. You know, just a guess and all.

[Surprisingly, his calling her a bird really isn't him flirting. Because he's talking quidditch, and now he's captain it means serious business.]

[She just figures he means it to further push how small she is.]

Well, thanks! Maybe next year... I also have prefect duties and all now.

[speterman]

His brows knit together at the 'Stars-in-our-eyes' but instead of commenting on it, he continues with the line of conversation.

"What did you do to it?"

Peter couldn't help it, he thought he was brilliant, and super cool. He was good at everything Peter hoped to be good at. He scratches at the back of his head in thought for a minute.

[arrogantalloy]

"Oh please, like I'm even going to fly high enough for plummeting to happen. No, nothing I did is going to affect stability at height. Have a jello shot and relax."

Tony Stands up and puts his foot in one of the cradles.

"Just watch and let me know if anything doesn't look right. I'll keep it to, hmm, 5 feet? tops."

[greenmoonrising]

"I'm not old enough fo- You're not old enough for jello shots!" he snapped, growing increasingly uncomfortable as he watched Tony mount the broom.

"I hate you, fine, let's just get this over with," he sighed, running a hand through his hair and breathing hard through his nose to calm down.

Prefect, nice. So we both get to be part of the very shiny badge brigade. Well that's always, you know. Neat.

You'll come to the games though of course? Cheering for me and my merry band of broom riders when we aren't trying to take on Huffle's naturally.

Tony gives him a look that said he was very pleased with himself.

"Structurally; The handle is from the Stark 44-speedstrike, it's got a good shape so it does wonders for handling. The bristles from Stark's Revertor 13, because it'll give me a better of the mark speed and can actually maintain it, and I've oiled them so it'll give a smoother flow. And I moved the foot stand up about an inch and a half, which should give me a twenty-five percent turning advantage.

Cosmetically; I moved the Stark logo to the foot stand, and as you can see, painted it metallic bronze and blue."


Tony passes the broom to Peter so he can look at it himself.
