Preparing for try outs.

 WHO: Tony, but open to all.
TONE: Easy going.
RATING: PG-13 for possible language
WHEN: August 9th
WHERE: Hogwarts grounds. Roughly where the first years are taught how to ride a broom.
WHAT: Tony's getting ready to be a captain before general try out for quidditch start.
STATUS: Ongoing! 


With Tony being the Captain of Ravenclaw's team this year. Tony decided to take a break from homework and general geniusing, to sit out in the autumn sun while doing some general broom maintenance out on the grass. 

He's absorbed in his work; readjusting twigs, shifting his foot stands and getting on and testing how it moves a few feet off the air.

He's mumbling to himself during the entire process.

"What I wouldn't give for an iPod to work here sometimes"

Is one of the few things he can be heard mumbling aside from extensive thoughts on how the broom should hand'e when he does this thing or that thing to it.

One thing is for sure, he seems to be quite in his element playing with the broom.

"Oh yeah? How good is damn good?"

Tony looks him up and down for a moment, as he runs numbers in his head.

"So, Keeper, or chaser?"

He keeps his tone casual, as he goes through his maintenance kit and then oils a couple of the outer bristles on his broom.

"You'll have to wait and see, won't you."

Blushing finally under control, he grins cockily. Arthur's not a well-built teenager as far as being muscular goes, but he's slim and agile, with quick reflexes.

"And that would be telling. Why so interested, Stark?"

"I'm going for Chaser. Just want to know if I'm going to have to deal with you or not. And out of all the positions, you're going to be going for those two."

Tony quirks a cocky eyebrow at him.

[She peers at it interestedly and smiles.]

It's gorgeous. I can tell just by looking at it that it's ridiculously fast. Did you do the customizing?

I like our House colors usually but I'll agree with you there. The blue kinda blends with the sky sometimes.

Of course. I wouldn't trust anyone else with customising something I plan to fly at high speed with a ball in my arm.

Exactly. Which is why I went with metallic paint. Then everyone will know where I am. Which hey, it's what I want. And having the attention on me works in my seekers favour.

[He smirks up at her.]

I can't say I blame you there. I need to learn more about how to customize brooms. There's a ton of stuff I'd love to do with mine.

Oh yeah! Here's hoping I continue to be the Seeker. I'm not sure if anyone else is trying out for the spot or not.

"Oh! You have a Pod of i?" Loki has been looking around the grounds, and found the area was rather pleasant. He saw Tony and made a b-line for him.

Tony looks up at the question with a raise eyebrow looking at the kid.

"Pod of wh- Oh, Loki, right?"

Tony was pretty sure this was the same kid who he spoke to during the broom cleaning day, the way he spoke was kind of hard to forget, especially as it matched his brothers at time.

"Well, no. I don't I have a Stark player. But I could buy an iPod if I wanted. Then I don't have to care if it's stolen. Settling in kid?"

"Hello Tony Stark!" Loki sat down next to Tony, grinning widely.

" I am settling in well enough. I would wish greatly to examine your Pod of i if you were able to obtain one.

[Since today was such a beautiful day, Feferi couldn't help but go outside and enjoy the weather, who knows how long this would last at any rate.

While she is finding a place to settle down, that's when she spots the Ravenclaw kid, she had never really talked to him before, but she really wanted to make more friends this year. Even though he looked busy, he probably wouldn't mind company?]

hmmm Hey!! What are you working on?

I've written up a guide if you want to look at it, it's incomplete in places because. Uh well I get caught up in doing it and forget to write things down. But hey, that's what journals are for right?

[He grins back]

If they are, no one's mentioned it to me. Which is good, because it's going to be easier to make some plays if I don't have to learn a new seekers moves.

Bruce being Bruce just had to know what his friend was up to - in sunlight no less - so he found himself standing in front of Tony, head cocked to one side curiously.

"First cars, now brooms?"

[arrogantalloy]

Tony looks up at him with a thoughtful lick of the lips as he finishes tightening the sticks.

"What now? I've been tweeking brooms since second year. Just at home. And remember, I'm that modern major general now. Can't be on the pitch with a poor performing broom."

He gives a little but smug grin.

"You can still go for try outs you know."

[arrogantalloy]

"Yeah well, if I ever get that desperate to buy one. I'll make sure you're the first one I find."

He shifts slightly to look at the first year.

"Can't you just buy your own?"

Then after a thought.

"Also, just 'Tony' is fine."

"Thanks but I'll pass - you know how I hate heights," he answered with a grimace, sitting down in front of Tony. "Sure you can fly that thing?"

"It would be nice to have music, wouldn't it?"

The voice comes from overhead. Bonnibel's sitting on her broom, hovering without a care in the world.

"You know, have everyone pumped up before tryouts?"

[Steve was not super fond of flying. It wasn't anything he did very often, because he didn't own his own broom, and the brooms the other kids at the orphanage had had to be kept secret from the Muggle children staying at the home. So, Steve hardly ever went flying.

He did enjoy going out on the grounds and watching people fly, though. He has his sketchbook tucked under his arms as he makes his way across the grass, and he's not at all surprised to see Tony there.]

Maybe you should just get a record player.

"Observant of you," he comments, though he's aware his build limits the number of positions he's most suited for. It could only be Keeper or Chaser, really.

"I suppose I'll tell you, since we're friends and all. I'll be going for Chaser, so.. I'm afraid you will have to deal with me, should I make the team."

[arrogantalloy]

[Tony twirls a pair of pliers around his fingers when he finishes tightening a part of his broom.]

You know, I should. But they don't really fit in your back pocket.

[He grins up at Steve]

Besides, the bass is never loud enough on the players.

[He nods at the sketch book.]

Getting some of your own practice in, huh?

[arrogantalloy]

"It's something I do sometimes."

Tony runs his fingers through his hair then nods.

"Chaser, huh. Not bad. Hey, you might even be a challenge if I get in. But, hey, maybe I can just get Bruce to flash you at the start of the game. Because all's fair in love and war, right?"

Tony chuckles.

Minimizing spells. I thought you were supposed to be a genius.

[He nods in return.]

The weather is perfect today.

[arrogantalloy]

It wouldn't just be a minimizing spell. I'd have to use something to use as a stabliser, because hey, vinyl's easy to scratch and jump when nudged. There's also the whole using a spell to maximize noise, or enchanting a pair of head phones to connect to it, which is messing with muggle tech. That's a little illegal, and I get in enough trouble with the ministry as it is.

[Tony puts the broom down and leans back.]

In the end, the end doesn't justify the means here.

You know you're right. It really is as perfect as you can get.

"I suppose I could, but it it better to learn from one who already knows the technology."

He smiled at the level of familiarity Tony was offering with the use of his name. "I will! How have classes been so far for you, Tony?"

"I'll take that as rather high praise coming from you."

The second part of what he says draws a laugh, and Arthur presses one hand to his face, though he's not blushing half as much as he might have been.

"If you can persuade Bruce to do that, I'd deserve to lose the game."

I. Am just making sure my broom is ready for try outs.

[Tony grins up at Feferi]

[Tony might be smart, but he's bad with names of people he doesn't see regularly.]
