Quidditch 101 with Greg Lestrade!!

WHO: Greg Lestrade, Arthur and Victoria Kirkland on Saturday, and Hufflepuffs interested in trying out for the team and who might want some tips for it before the real tryouts. Saturday is locked to Arthur and Victoria, while Sunday is open to Hufflepuffs and other people who might be at the field on that day.

WHAT: Saturday: Greg promised to help out Arthur and Victoria on their Quidditch skills. Sunday: Greg offers to take a look at what the skills of interested Hufflepuff Quidditch players and provide suggestions to improve their game before tryouts.

[Thankfully, the good weather from Friday has stretched over the weekend. If your name is Arthur or Victoria Kirkland, than Greg will be waiting for you on Saturday for your respective slots. Hufflepuff team prospects, come by on Sunday instead. Whatever it is, Greg's here to give pointers on improving your game. Gatecrashers are welcome on Sunday, but the whole field was booked for the private lessons on Saturday.]

And speaking of practice, you want to go a few more rounds? I might try some of the more trickier Quidditch moves.

You know. I would very much enjoy that.

Fantastic. Let's get started then.

[He'll spend the next twenty minutes practising with her. These moves are obviously a lot sneakier before, with feints and a bit of fancy flying. Still, she should be able to catch most of the Quaffles.

When they're done and over with, Greg pumps his fist in the air, a giant grin across his face.]

Now that's the way to do it!

[As they training progresses, Victoria starts catching on faster and faster to his moves.]

Well, that would be because I have a good teacher.

[She smiles at him properly.]

[He returns back to the ground, landing with a solid thump. There's a thrill that's running through his body though, brought on by adrenaline and the fun he had been enjoying with Victoria through Quidditch.]

Honestly I'm not sure why you haven't tried out before, you're really good at this!

[He can't help the big grin that's spreading across his face; he always loves a good game and to see Victoria perform well makes him proud.]

[She comes down herself and lands delicately. Then takes out a hankercheif and dabs at some sweat that had formed around her face and neck during the practice.]

Because I was never interested before now. If Arthur hadn't admitted to wanting to try out, I would have continued to not be interesting.

[She smiles back at him, pleased at how training went and thinking that Greg really was quite a good person to help her for try outs despite being from a different house.]

I guess the Ravenclaws owe your cousin then; they might've missed out on a damn good Beater. I think you've got a really good chance of making the team. They'd be stupid to not take you on.

[nobodyscrumpet]

[She grins at him.]

"Damn good" is it? Oh well, now you really are flattering me, Gregory.

[She blushes a little.]

Pretend I typed "Keeper" instead of "Beater", OTL

No I mean it. You've got a really good grip and a keen eye. You caught most of the Quaffles I threw at you too; with decent practise, I think I might just have made life harder for my team's Chasers.

Don't worry, I will!

[She smiles looking very well pleased with this.]

Well, with all chasers I hope. I really do just think it all came down to having a very suitable teacher.

Well, Stark'll probably be able to help you there. I think he's got a way with the ladies, and as much as he annoys me I do know he's a bloody genius. He'll show you the ropes proper.

[The point. Missed.]

[She rolls her eyes slightly and gives a sigh. But she still has a smile on her lips.]

Oh Gregory, you really are just the dearest thing sometimes.

[di_intraining]

Hmm? What's that?

[You might have to excuse him Victoria, he's still at that age where Quidditch is how his mind works.]

[nobodyscrumpet]

I meant you, you great banana. You were really helpful and sweet today.

[di_intraining]

[Welp. His mouth opens, shuts, opens again, and then shuts, before he can finally find the words to reply.]

Well I'm glad that I could help. Can't say I've ever been called a great banana either, but I'll take what I can get. Got anymore nice things to say about me?

[She grins at him.]

Oh, I have a few things. But I'm going to keep them too myself, can't have you getting a big head now.

Fair enough. I'll earn'em one day.

[nobodyscrumpet]

[She brushes some loose hair from her face.]

I suppose one day you will.

[di_intraining]

Do you need me to go over anything else? If not, then I guess that's it for today. If you've got any other questions, just tell me through the journals.

[She shakes her head.]

No, I think I'm all set now. You really have been a great help today.

[di_intraining]

Well I had a great student.

[Without really thinking about it, he gives her a friendly clap on the back.]

You'll be fine for the try-outs. I'm looking forward to our first match already.

[nobodyscrumpet]

[She beams and him, and doesn't seem to mind the clap on the back.]

Well then, I hope that you're ready to lose. Now that I know how you throw and all now.

[di_intraining]

[In return, he gives her a tiny smirk.]

You know how I throw; you don't know how I hit. And I can tell you I'm a hell lot better at Beater than Chaser. If anything, I know how you catch now.

[A mischievous wink, and then he starts keeping the Quidditch balls, speaking to her as he works.]

Seriously though, I won't tell my Chasers anything. I'd rather them train from scratch and learn themselves.
