WHAT: Greg and Maxim had an argument, and Greg stormed out with a different Jaeger after him, concerned over his junior Hufflepuff.
STATUS: Ongoing

He was pissed beyond measure. He wanted something to punch, something to vent out his anger on, but Hogwarts did not have a boxing ring or a gym and all he'll have to settle for is the cool night's sky. Maybe that would calm down his raging emotions. As he rudely ignored the portrait's calls for him to return, he tried his best to ignore the sting on his right side of his jaw where Maxim had punched him.

"I'm sure. I mean, I don't really think we're friends either. She's usually just the girl who shares classes with me. But whenever she steps into the damn room my mind just goes crazy and I end up looking like an absolute fool."

He threw his hands up in the air, frustrated.

"I mean, I care for her, and I don't want anything bad to happen to her, but that's because I generally don't want anything bad to happen to anybody!"

"Dat sound awful lot like crush to me, efen if hyu dun know each odder vell." Oggie paused a moment, thinking. "...Or a spell. Hyu dun eat anytink 'fishy' lately did hyus?"

Greg rolled his eyes. "I live in a Muggle household, and if someone wanted to play a practical joke on me they could do better than to spike my pumpkin juice with a love potion."

"Iz fery strange den, dun hyu tink? Gorl hyu not interested in... hyu is suddenly interested in. If not crush and not magic, den vot?" Oggie shook his head.

"If hyu iz not tryink to beink competition, hyu needs to learn how to step beck. Odder pipple is allowed to make deir own decisions."

"I already told you, I'm not interested in her like that! I just think she's making a bad decision to get all comfy with Maxim after he's made it clear he can't be a one boyfriend or girlfriend kinda guy, which is what she's looking for. It just...hurts to have someone like that."

His voice quietened after as he looked out across the landscape of the school grounds. That was a little more than he'd have liked to shared.

"If dey is clear about vat dey vants, dey ken reach compromise. Any relationship is about findink middle ground, efen mit monogamy. It also hurt to haf somevun not treat hyu like hyu is allowed to make decisions, efen if dey iz bad vuns."

He did pick up on that quieting, but wasn't sure what to make of it yet. Greg was talking though, which was good. Talking problems over with someone else was always better than letting them fester.

"It'd be better to prevent than to pick up the pieces later. Sometimes people make wrong decisions; I can't just let that happen. I've got to say something."

"Dere is difference betveen 'sayink sometink' und 'shoutink until dey is bullied into doink vhat hyu vants for dem'. De biggest part of carink for odder pipple is treatink dem like dey iz pipple."

"I wasn't shouting at her. I was...more angry at your brother for not stopping her. And I just lost my temper."

[syned_a_brik]

"Heh." His point was not getting through.

"My brudder..." He paused and tried to figure out how to put this.

"Mebbe he encourage her, yah? Mebbe he vas bad. But Rapunzel iz not leedle gorl. She make her own decision too. She iz allowed to be schtupid if she vants. Und Hy tink she might not like dat hyu is tryink to act like hyu iz her mamma."

"And what, just stand there and watch her break her heart all over again? I'm just trying to look out for her and your idiot of a brother, whether you believe it or not."

He sighed heavily and rubbed his temples.

"Look, I know what you're saying, that she's old enough to make her own decisions. But when they're ones that are going to end up hurting her, I'd rather save her the pain now than have her deal with it later."

Dropping his hands to sides, he paced around, still irritated with both himself and the situation.

"I mean, if your brother was about to do the stupidest thing in the world that would end in him getting crushed, wouldn't you step in?"

"Of course I wasn-"

No point getting angry at Oggie for English mistranslations. Greg just sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

"Obviously I'm not going to tie Rapunzel to a chair, but I'm not going to just watch from the sidelines and see her set herself up for heartbreak. There's only so much I can do, yeah I get that. But I'll do what I can."

"Hmm." Oggie just looked at Greg for a moment, intently.

"Hyu iz much more reasonable avay from her, yah. Mebbe hyu see nurse about dot? Mebbe somevun did spike hyu pumpkin chuse. Dis iz pretty big change."

He blinked, surprised.

"You really think someone's cast a spell on me to fall for Rapunzel like a love-sick idiot everytime she walks into the room?"

That...might actually make sense, given his reactions to her everytime she does step within sight.

"Hy still tink hyu is beink more protectif dan necessary, for somebody who is not hyu friend. But you vas rafink before und suddenly hyu iz chust concerned. Hyu no listen to anyvun und suddenly hyu is talkink all calm-like.

"Well that someone deserves a little trip to the Healer's office!"

It's really frustrating. On one hand, it's so easy to just go with Oggie's suggestion and not blame himself for what happened.

On the other hand though, exactly how much of it was him, and how much of it was the spell. It was slightly worrying, because Greg did not think he was completely innocent here.

He just ends up slumping against the wall and crossing his arms, not any happier than when he had started.

"Well, it's not like it matters. I'm still in hot soup with your brother and Rapunzel."
