[She doesn't open her eyes, not even as his fingers brush her lips.]

Thank you, Maxim. [She shouldn't be letting herself do this. It's just going to make things harder. But all she wants right now is to fall asleep in his arms, just this once.]

[He hums in replying, shifting a bit so their bodies are face to face, one arm propping him up, the other draped over her hip. His fingers continue to stroke her lips, his own hovering close enough, it would only take a little nudge for them to be touching.]

[Does she even know what she does to him? Can she feel his heart pounding in his chest, hear the way his breath hitches ever so slightly with every inhale? He feels as though he's on the edge of a precipice, and oh how he wants to leap, to feel the rush of falling, but a voice keeps screaming that the person he'll hurt by doing so won't be himself.]

[No, not really -- She has adapted her own understanding of Maxim's feelings, and she doesn't dare think too much about where she might be wrong. But as he continues to touch her lips, she opens one eye in confusion.]

...Are you going to kiss me?

[It would go along with this pretending she's willing herself to do; that this is how things can just be between him and her and no one else. Deep down, she knows that goes against what she told Amelia earlier... She knows she'll be unhappy that her first kiss didn't count, or that it will only make her want more.

And yet, she doesn't protest. She's not even acknowledging those thoughts.]

[The question startles him enough to make his breath hitch noticeably, but he doesn't jump. Just pause his movements, swallowing and licking his lips]

Do hyu vant me too?

Yes.

[She opens her eyes fully and just... Watches him. Waiting to see.]

[As her eyes open, his eyelids lower, and for a moment, he just gazes at her from beneath his eyelashes.]

[She gave him permission. It's okay if he does it. That's how it goes, right?]

[Breathing out, he slides his hand up her hip, over her ribcage, the back of his palm just barely brushing the side of her breast. Over her shoulder it goes, then his fingers wrap around the base of her neck, curling in her hair as he leans forward, closing the distance between their lips.]

[If she had any tension in her at all, it's gone as their lips meet. She just relaxes completely, despite feeling a bit awkward -- She's never had a proper kiss before, and she's worried she's doing something wrong just in how she presses her lips to his.]

[Greg's just finished unpacking all his stuff when he came back to the common room to stumble upon a very, very awkward situation. It's not like he hasn't seen people snogging before, but it does look very passionate and maybe he should go somewhere else and not dist-

Wait.

Was that Maxim and Rapunzel!?

He froze for a few seconds before a big scowl forced its way on his face as he stalked down and snapped at the two of them.]

What the hell are you doing!?

[Sorry, what, did someone say something? Normally, he's a bit more aware of his surroundings, even if he doesn't act like it, but right now, his entire attention is on Rapunzel, and the soft, unsure press of her lips]

[Rapunzel, for her part, is a bit more trained to notice being scolded. That does not, of course, mean she is happy about it. She slowly and gently breaks away from Maxim, then leans in to quickly peck his lips again, before turning her attention to Greg.]

What?

[In all truth, she doesn't even remember she's kissing someone else's boyfriend.]

Are you two out of your damn minds? Or have you forgotten the part where Maxim has a boyfriend!? Van's a Hufflepuff too, what if he saw you two both getting comfy and eating each other's faces!!

[Maxim whines at Rapunzel pulls away, but without her distracting him, it starts to kick in that someone is yelling at him.]

[Normally he'd be much more aggressive about confrontation, but the mention of Van is like a kick in the teeth for him. He hadn't even thought about him.]

[Worst. Boyfriend. Ever.]

Iz not like ve hidink it from him. If he saw, he vould step in und say zumting hisself. [he shrugs, trying to act natural] Iz alzo not hyu bisness, Greg.

[Van... Oh God. Rapunzel grabs her head in her hands.]

[Seeing Rapunzel so upset served only to fuel the anger that had been invoked with Maxim's careless disregard for his fellow Hufflepuff's feelings. Coupled with the slight jealousy that Rapunzel always managed to bring out of him, and his protectiveness over his fellow housemates, Greg chose to round up on Maxim further, his eyes ablaze.]

It damn well is, when Van's my friend! "Not like you're hiding it from him." I like that! So you don't care that he could've found his boyfriend snogging his fellow housemate and Prefect!? I know you can't keep it in your pants, but have some thought for how he's going to feel when he sees you and her together like this!

[Okay, not feeling so keen on acting natural now. Now he is agitated, his guilt had already been nagging at his (admittedly small) conscious, and now Rapunzel was upset.]

[Growling, he pushes himself to his feet, barreling right into Greg's personal space so that they're chest to chest]

[Maxim better take a step back, because the street kid that Greg used to be isn't going to back down, especially when Maxim is pushing things into his personal space. He's so caught up in his emotions that he missed Rapunzel's statement to him.]

And then what happens when you get back with Van, huh? You gonna dump Rapunzel like yesterday's leftovers? Because that's not how you treat someone you like! Face it Jaegar, you've never been able to keep your hands to one person and you're not gonna change now, are you? Rapunzel deserves better than to be someone's seconds, and you'd better treat her with the respect she deserves!

[Someone wants to be a big boy. Greg glowered and clenched his fist tight. He's been in a fight before in Hogwarts, and that didn't end well for both parties. Even angry, he's trying his best to restrain himself from pushing back. So far it's working. So far. But doesn't mean he's going to let the subject matter drop.]

If you love someone, then you make a decision and you stick with it. You don't just go with whoever's the flavour of the season! People get hurt when you abandon them, it's selfish and you should be ashamed of yourself. Not everyone thinks the way you do, and Rapunzel obviously doesn't, so why don't you back off before you end up hurting her even more?

And what, he doesn't know that you're looking for a boyfriend who's loyal and faithful to you? He should be stopping you, instead of encouraging you to go along with this farce because he will never be the boyfriend that you are looking for or that you deserve!

If you truly love someone, then you should really reconsider whether you're really what's right for them. That's part of loving someone; accepting that you may not be the right fit, and that maybe you should take a step back instead of kissing her! Did you ever think what would happen after this little fling the two of you are having? Are you going to dump Van and go with her, or are you just going to pretend this kiss was just a little fun before you go off on your honeymoon with your boyfriend?
