WHERE: Hogwarts Express/Platform 9 3/4 and The Great Hall
WHAT: Gotta get back to Hogwarts! Back to witches and wizards and magical feasts! Students and teachers are finally heading back to school on the Hogwarts express, and with the new school year means sorting for the first years!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: There is a thread for the Train back to Hogwarts, and the Feast, with a subthread for the Sorting! First years can comment to be sorted, and everyone else can greet their new house mates/students!

[Arthur grins slightly when he says that. He cares very much about his cousin, that much is true, but he knows she can look after herself]

Come off it Arthur, you know how Quidditch is a bit of a rough spot. I can't treat her like some dainty teapot.

[But despite his grumbling, he does know that Victoria is very important to Arthur. So out of respect for his friend, he will agree.]

Look, I'll try to make sure Her Highness doesn't smudge her robes. But I can't guarantee anything. It's a fact in Quidditch that sometimes you get hurt, and maybe training might be a good thing to prepare her for that.

I'm just pulling your leg, Lestrade. Knock her off her broom a few times if you must, just try not to break anything. Not that I imagine for one moment you'd hurt her that severely on purpose.

[Tony lifts the twist to his nose then regards it with a semi pleased look, then tucks it behind his ear.]

Well I've smelt a hell of a lot worse. What brought this need to lavish people with exotic smells?

We're going to be in the same vicinity for the next ten months, doofus. [He tilts his head up into the nuzzle before sighing.] I know. I just got annoyed and I was worried about you getting into trouble and that you wouldn't want to be friends with a lame jerk like me anymore.

[ Equius is wandering through the train himself, when he sees the girl. He feels like he'd seen her recently (which he had), but he just couldn't put his finger on where or when.

So he's just going to stare at her from a few feet away. It's better than having an awkward conversation, after all. ]

[He rubs the back of his neck]

It's not like it would matter. He's a pretty loud guy.

[ Equius, during his adventure through the train, passes by this compartment in particular just as a croak creeps past the door to get his attention. ]

[ And then Equius invites himself into the little room. He's standing there, arms crossed, staring at that book that he doesn't recognize. His face shows he doesn't know what to make of it. Fifty Shades of Gray sure is an ambiguous title. ]

I did not know you could read.

[By this time, Karkat's given up on trying to read with other people interrupting him and made up with Gamzee. When he sees Shinra, he bites his lip and waves back a little awkwardly.]

[The hat deliberates for a few seconds longer, hemming and hawing all the way.]

You have a certain knack for seeing what others can't, I see... But I wonder... Mm, yes, perhaps. You are indeed very creative...

[Karkat looks up from his book and eyes Equius with a slight distaste. Nepeta's friend had always rubbed him the wrong way but it wasn't exactly something he could change her mind about. He just put up with it, which he guessed he'd have to do now.]

I'm not president of the book club for nothing, Zahhak. Being able to read is kind of a requirement. [He purses his lips together.] What the fuck are you doing in my compartment? Nepeta's not here.

It means you would do fairly well in Ravenclaw. But... No, I don't think that would be the best fit your you. You're very kind. You're not quite... right for Ravenclaw.

You have a lot of loyalty... Yes, I'm sensing a great deal of kindness and loyalty within you. But... you aren't very brave.

[Oh no, this doesn't sound like it's going too good. She feels a growing sense of dread as she whispers to the hat.]

Is that a b-bad thing? Do I have to go home?

No, no, certainly not. I have never failed to find a house for anyone, don't be silly. It just means you aren't cut out for Gryffindor, either. No, I have a hunch, but I just want to make absolutely positive.

[He grows silent.]

[So she's not going to be in the best house then. Her shoulders slump slightly; she'd have liked to be in the coolest house. But Tavros had told her that you needed to be brave and confident, and she really wasn't that at all.

Instead of asking the hat anymore questions though, she keeps quiet and lets him decide. Maybe he was having trouble because she kept asking questions and interrupting him.]

[He's quiet for another few moments.]

Not very cunning, nor particularly ambitious... Ah, yes. Alright. It's clear your heart and loyalty are your biggest attributes. You would most certainly be best suited for...

[Feferi spots Aranea, kinda relieved to see her since she might know the whereabouts of her sister. She also had I.O.U Aranea a hug for the first day of school, so this was the best time to give it! She waves to her and as she approaches her, tries ever so hard not to leap on her.]
