WHAT: There is a huge festival the whole week to let students get school supplies. People from all over are flocking to Diagon Alley for the best deals. That means you might meet new people or see old friends!
STATUS: Ongoing!
NOTE: Remember that this event is semi-open! Any HP AU character can have fun here, whether you're in the game or not, so have fun! If you missed the rush for the first log, here's a second chance to have fun, and start some of that September plotting!

Magical Menagerie

[Why he'd ever agreed to help his sister pick out a pet, Dipper had no idea. The shop was huge! And typically he'd lost Mabel the second they'd entered. Great. Just great. Dipper gave a sigh before moving on from the huge purple toads, jamming his hands into his pockets as he moved around the store.]

[mabelangelo]

[Oh no, you didn't lose her, here comes Mabel yelling her brother's name as she weaves around people.]

Dipperrrr!!! Dipper!! I found the perfect pet!! C'mon, you gotta see it!!

[Oops, sorry, did you want to stand and talk? Nooo, she's grabbing your hand and pulling you back in the direction she came from.]

[It's probably a good thing he's used to being yanked around in different directions by Mabel, but that doesn't stop him from stumbling after her when she starts yanking him towards whatever it is she's found.]

Mabel, slow down! It's still gonna be there when we get back to it.

[Seriously, Mabel.]

[Oohh no, no no, you cannot get away from her. ]

It might not be there, though! Because it's the best pet ever and I know that tons of people would totally want it if they knew how awesome it was!

[Oh... Oh yep. Dipper should have seen this coming a mile away, because look at all of these cats, but she's trying to refind it.

Shoot cats why are you all so appealing?]

[Oh dear. Yep. This was what he was afraid of. He chewed his bottom lip a bit as Mabel searched for whatever cat she was trying to find, looking at her out the corner of his eye.]

Do you have to get a magical cat? Can't it just be a cat from any other pet store? You know - normal, Muggle cats?

Pshhaw! Cats are awesome on their own, but magical cats are even better!

[Doop doop doop, she searches for a tiny bit more, then oh my god shes turning around and looking over the biggest cat she could find]

Look at him Dipper! He's perfect!

[mysterytwin]

[Dipper eyes the cat a little warily, like it has magical cooties or something. He reaches up to scratch the back of his head before shrugging.]

I dunno, Mabel. Do you really think Grunkle Stan would even let you have a cat as big as that in the house?

[mabelangelo]

[Oh you silly boy.]

I'm sure he would. It's not like there's not enough room for him, and nothing could happen while he's there.

[She leans forward, looking from the cat to Dipper and back and forth, then whispers as if it's the most important thing ever.]

He's too perfect for him to not let me keep him.

[Dipper you're going to have to REALLY try to get her to think otherwise, oh goodness.]

Somehow I doubt Grunkle Stan will see his...charm like you do, Mabel.

[Was it even a boy cat? No, wait, Dipper didn't want to know how she knew.]

Well...I guess he looks like the lazy sort. Maybe he won't cause too much trouble.

Then I'll help Grunkle Stan see!

[With a nod, she shifts the cat in her arms. He's pretty big but she doesn't want to just drop him or anything, someone might think shes not going to choose him!! The cat just yawns. Gosh, he really is lazy.]

See? Perfect! Unless you can find another cat like him...?

I don't know about just like him. I mean no two cats are alike, just like humans.

[Just look at them for instance, and they're twins! Still, he looks around at the cats, rubbing his chin. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have his own pet... Dipper looks at her.]

Besides, Grunkle Stan said one pet, not two. Something about too many mouths to feed already.

See, there's my point. He's a great choice and if I picked him out of every cat in the store!

[She's starting to give him the looook~~...]

Then what're we going to do, Dipper? Because I really really want him!

[Nepeta was looking at the Puffskeins. She had always thought them an odd pet--cute, definitely, but unfortunately most people didn't seem to think they had much 'personality'. That's probably why they were all stuff in the back corner of the shop.

So it wasn't especially hard to spot Dipper when he came into view. She pulled her eyes away from the glass cage and smiled at him, giving a wave]

You look a bit lost.

[mysterytwin]

[Was that a girlish scream that left him? Nope. Nope, it certainly wasn't. When he realizes it's just an older girl talking to him, Dipper gives a small sigh before raising a hand to scratch the back of his neck a bit sheepishly.]

Well, it's not me that lost. Mabel ran off as soon as we got here and I can't see her anywhere.

[.......................snerk. She straightened up and gave him a cheeky smile]

Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. Who is Mabel?

She's my sister. She's my age, has the same hair colour as me and usually wears a silly sweater of some description. I think she had a cat on it today on account of us being able to get a pet.

[He taps his chin in thought.]

A cat! Good choice. She should consider a kneazle. Unfurtunately I haven't seen her come by here, but I can help you look if you want.

[mysterytwin]

A kneazle? [He raised an eyebrow at that but brightened up visibly.] You would? Thanks! Oh, I'm Dipper by the way.

I'm Nepeta. [She gives the puffskeins a small wave and makes her way to Dipper, stuffing her hands in her pockets]

Kneazles look and act like cats...they purrty much are them, really but they are super smart. They are purrty picky about their owner but then fiercely loyal and they are really sensitive to dark magic. So they are real good at telling if a purrson is trustworthy or not and will defend their owners to the end.
