Deductions
WHO: Karkat Vantas and Murdoc Donoghue
TONE: Two grumpy characters, what do you think.
RATING: PG-13 for Karkat's potty mouth
WHEN: backdated to Thursday 24th Mayish?? Whenever Karkat isn't with Gamzee
WHERE: Murdoc's office
WHAT: Murdoc gets called on his bullshit and deducts points for it.
STATUS: ongoing
Murdoc had tossed his journal across the room before Vantas could reply to his last comment. He was far too frustrated to deal bother with writing out more snide remarks. His hand is tired from the snappy responses at Strider and his head hurts. He rests it on the desk, not imagining that the boy would accept his invitation to debate house points. He lets out a long suffering sigh and begins to bump his head lightly against the desk. God have mercy on whoever interrupts his routine of frustration.

With a small sigh, he rearranged the pajamas in his hands, having decided to stop by before going to the Slytherin dorms for Gamzee, raising one to rap it against the door. "Professor?"
no subject
"Come in." He calls out, not leaving his desk. He sets papers in front of him, idly checking them as if he's terribly busy and was not at all expecting Karkat. He has totally forgotten the journal tossed across the room.

"I'll start off by saying that I'm not backing down from what I said on the journals. Acting like a child when you're an adult is not going to get things to go your way, professor, and deducting house points is not going to work in your favor either." Karkat gave a small sigh, staying calm which was a bit of a surprise when you considered his usual temper. "I was attempting to diffuse the situation at hand. I hardly think that warrants point deduction."

Murdoc watches Karkat as he approaches, regarding him with an eternally bored expression. He pretends as if he hadn’t thrown the biggest tantrum of the century and as if Strider’s words hadn’t hit closer to home than he would have liked.
His eyes drop back down to the paper as Karkat speaks again and he glares bitterly at the words, clenching and unclenching the fingers curled around his pen. Unlike Karkat, he’s finding his temper a lot harder to keep even. He places the pen down and links his fingers together, propping his elbows on the desk as he gives the boy his full attention.
“Perhaps next time you will learn not to speak about matters that do not involve you.”

"Professor Matteris insulted two of my friends and riled one of them up to the point where I am on my way to calm him down and talk him out of going to her office and ripping out her throat. You chose to take a stab at my personal feelings in regards to Strider Junior and tried to pick on me. The both of you are walking on thin ice before I decide it's time to take your behavior to Professor Dumbledore."
He crossed his arms over his chest. "It's unbecoming of professors of your statuses to pick a fight with students just because things don't go your way and personal feelings get involved."
no subject
"As I recall, your friends insulted her right back." He narrows his eyes. "If a student is so unstable, they do not deserve to study among rational students. So what if she insulted them? Is violence any way to solve that? It's not as if she was personal--" His voice is starting to raise and the stoic facade is cracking. "It's not as if she used deceased family members as an attack!"
He shouted that last line at Karkat. The raised voice seems to have brought him back to life a bit. He's so angry that he's shaking and he's half stood up out of his chair to yell at him. He sinks back down. "Noted. However, the points will remain deducted. Next time, do not interfere with the workings of adults."
no subject
He tucked his hand away into his arm. "Like I assume your buttons have been pushed, Professor. It's not fun, is it? Imagine that anger you're holding in five times more and that's what Gamzee is feeling right now. A lot of feelings were hurt tonight, and I hardly believe anybody was acting like the adult they are supposed to be. That's why I took control of the situation."
He shifted on his spot before nodding in acknowledgement and turning to leave. "My offer to lend an ear still stands, but for now I have to attend to my best friend. Good evening, Professor."
