Pulling up to the parties
WHO: Gamzee Makara, Tavros Nitram, and anyone who wants to PAR-TAY
TONE: Hilarious, fun
RATING: PG-13 to R for possible shenanigans
WHEN: May 5th
WHERE: Empty classroom
WHAT: Gamzee is throwing a birthday bash for his bro! Everyone is invited!
STATUS: Ongoing
There was food. There was music. There were sparkly lights. There was booze. There was even a ridiculously oversized cake, though that had yet to be wheeled in. Gamzee had done everything he could to make sure the birthday party he was throwing for Tavros was well attended, and everyone knew the best way to get a hopping party was to let the Hufflepuffs know they were all invited. Which he had. And then, of course, he had to get the word out to absolutely everyone else he didn't think would be a bastard to his boy.
And then it was just a matter of getting permission to use one of the empty classrooms (he made sure to go through Iroh), setting everything up, waiting for people to come, throwing a blanket silence charm in the hall to disguise everything, and then dispatching Karkat to go get Tavros. When the Hufflepuff showed up, there would be a roomful of people waiting to yell surprise at him, a band with some sweet tunes, and a particularly tastyfine present Gamzee intended to give his bro later.
Because some shit was worth the wait.

Karkat doing this for him was just the cherry on top of a perfect night. He was a little nervous about sneaking out, mainly because he was scared of getting caught since Karkat didn't have one of those cool silencing potions like Gamzee did. But they made it! And Tavros was so excited it was nearly radiating in physical waves.
When Karkat pulled the present out of his bag, Tavros looked very surprised. He didn't think Karkat had gotten him anything (which was completely and totally fine! Because having Karkat was a present himself, the best one.) since he'd not given anything to him at the party. "Oh, you... I- I mean, you didn't have to..." His face was a little red then, as he took the gift from Karkat. He was too caught off guard by the fact, and feeling too bad that Karkat had actually got him something, that he didn't immediately start opening it, and instead stared at Karkat, and then down at the present.

He leaned forward on the handles of the Hufflepuff's wheelchair, looking down at Tavros with a raised eyebrow. His lips quirked a little at the flush on his cheeks before he waved a hand nonchalantly. "Are you going to open it?"

He stopped, because he'd been about to say something along the lines of 'you're already my present', but that felt like too much and he felt entirely too embarrassed to say anything like that. Even if it was true, and not just for Karkat. All of his friends were gifts! It was just especially true for Karkat, with how he'd been there so much for the Hufflepuff. "A-Anyway, yeah! Time to, open this..."
He began awkwardly fumbling with the paper, biting his lip in concentration as he started opening it.

Inside the paper, Tavros would find a thick encyclopedia, detailing everything known about every kind of magical creature, even the ones that were considered a myth by Muggle standards like unicorns and Big Foot, along with a rather extensive section on dragons. Karkat scuffed his sneaker against the ground and glanced off to the side. "I didn't know if you had that book already or anything but my aunt recommended it to me."

He held it up and flipped it over. Yes, it was definitely the same one he'd been salivating over for years, right down to the thickness. The thickness filled with all of that information. Seeing Tavros look over the book was probably like witnessing a Ravenclaw who'd just gotten the book of their dreams. Because Tavros had. "I... do you, know how long I've wanted this?" he asked, finally tearing his eyes off of the book to look at Karkat. "Karkat! I... Thank you! I, uh, I... I don't know what to say!"
Behind the complete and total surprise in his eyes, there was... something like adoration. "I... I can't believe this," he said, and his eyes went back down to the book. "You're the best!"

"Like I said, I asked my aunt. I know you like Care and she suggested that book, but I didn't know if you already had it." The Gryffindor lowered his arm and placed his hands into his pockets, hunching his shoulders a little. It was a relief to see Tavros happy for a change. Honestly it was. "I really had no idea you wanted it so badly."
