This is totally the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

WHO: Sybille Matteris (Mindfang) and Vriska Serket
TONE: Stressful, awkward, and all that jazz.
RATING: PG/PG-13 for language. Potentially.
WHEN: Early evening, just before the night's dinner.
WHERE: Sybille's charms classroom.
WHAT: Vriska's great aunt just kicked the bucket, but Dumbledore has good news! The (lovely, amazing, foxy) charms teacher is in fact a distant relative of hers!!
STATUS: On going!

There were many things Sybille had learned over the course of her life, and of them the one she held closest to her heart was that when somebody mentioned a "but" after delivering some heavy news, you should be wary. Possibly afraid. But definitely wary.

So she wasn't to surprised when Dumbledore smiled at her and the little brat he had brought in, and she tried not to grimace when he asked if she would look after the girl. Sybille agreed to caring for the girl, as much as her mind screamed at her to say no. She looked horrible and unkempt, and some where deep, deep inside of her heart she pitied her.

She leaned back on her desk, looking the girl up and down. Vriska Serket, who was somehow distantly, distantly related to her.

"Soooo, brat, do you have a lot of things I'm going to need move into my place?" She's making such a wonderful impression, isn't she?

In the span of less than a few hours Vriska had hit so many emotional climaxes that she wasn't sure of what she was feeling by the time she was alone with the Charms teacher... now, apparently, her new guardian.

Maybe she'd have a little more luck with her than she had in the past with her other relatives. She just needed her to look after her for the next few years. How hard could that be?

Hands twisting behind her skirt she cast the professor a look and shrugged. "Is... Not much? One, two suitcases? Not much." She considered saying more, but saw no point in it.

She shook her head again. "No. I have nothing there. I take all with me to school." She really didn't have much to her name. Most of what her mother left her was picked up from closer relatives who felt things like money and property were better off with them rather than a six-year old. All she considered valuable were her chess sets, a bag of lucky gambling dice, and her pet spider, Nicholas.

She smiled sweetly. "Is no trouble for you?"

That made her frown, sending Sybille a terrible look. Ugh, what an impossible woman! Why couldn't she just keep out of her business like everyone else did?

"No need! I am not in need for- charity! Just give me place to sleep, is all I need from you. I am fine on my own." Curse this tongue and its limitations. Vriska crossed her arms under her chest and glowered at the professor.

"I am not your name! I have own name. Keep yours!" She stood her ground, not yet breaking eye contact with Sybille. It was probably a terrible idea to get on her bad side like this, especially since she was a teacher, but... it was hard not to bicker with her.

Vriska huffed and suddenly looked away. "I am fine."

She pressed her lips together in a tight frown. While this woman annoyed her greatly... she couldn't press her luck. She was toeing the line between living in an orphanage for the next four years or living with a blood relative, as diluted as that blood probably was. She couldn't risk everything now because of a short temper.

Looking away, eyes focused on a crack in the flooring, Vriska twisted her hands in the fabric of her skirt. "Sorry... Professor."
