Here we are on this glorious May afternoon to view the match which will decide which team goes up against Ravenclaw in the final quidditch game of the season! Will it be Hufflepuff, or Gryffindor? We’ll know soon enough! Settle in your seats, ladies and gents, and get the popcorn ready, because here are our teams! With exams on the horizon, it’s a wonder these brave souls have had any time to train at all! Maybe they haven’t, maybe this match is going to be as disorganised as my gran’s sock drawer; maybe this is going to be like the eponymous train wreck – it’s so awful, but you just can’t look away!

The balls are being brought onto the pitch, the captains are being told to shake hands… did they do it? I blinked, maybe I missed it—and we’re off!

It’s a good start for Hufflepuff, with Feferi Peixes taking the quaffle. They’ve been playing well this year and it’s looking good for them to take the cup. Now, as your humble commentator I’m not allowed to take sides but I know who I’d be putting my money on if there were any method by which I could place money on the outcome of this game. Which of course there isn’t. Professor, don’t look at me like that. I’m not— Oh, look! Peixes is speeding down the pitch! She’s going for the goal, the Gryffindor keeper lunges for a save— the wrong way! Hufflepuff scores the first goal of the match, bringing our numbers to 10 – 0, and the crowd is going wild! The Slytherin stand looks remarkably empty today, likely because they’ve already lucked out on their chance, but it looks like we still have some die-hard fans of the game. Give us a wave, guys! No? Alright then.

Gryffindor takes possession, Steve Rogers showing remarkable form as he catches a beautifully executed reverse pass. The Hufflepuff keeper comes forwards to block the goal—Rogers swerves to dodge a well-aimed bludger hit by Hufflepuff’s Ellis Smith, and it looks like that’s thrown him for a loop! The shot flies wide, and the keeper saves! I don’t believe it!

This match is hotting up now, folks, with Rogers looking downhearted after that near miss and the Hufflepuff beaters high-fiving in a touching display of camaraderie. Odinson looks to be shouting something to Rogers – I don’t know if it’s encouragement or not, the guy looks so cheerful all the time, how are we supposed to tell?! Whatever it was, it looks like Rogers has renewed determination! He’s haring after the Hufflepuff chasers, who are flying in what looks like a loose hawkshead attacking formation. Come on, ladies! Pull a move like that together or don’t try it at all! There’s a pass—intercepted! Rogers has the quaffle at the mid-line, he’s heading back to the goals! He passes to Keith Jones, the Hufflepuff chasers are hot on his heels – he’s pulling up to shake them—OH! He drops the quaffle down to Rogers, and we have another goal! Ten points each way!

The seekers are still hovering over the pitch, their eyes peeled for that illusive flash of gold. I haven’t seen a glimpse of it, and it doesn’t seem that anyone else has either! Hopefully this match won’t be a repeat of the 1990 Quidditch World Cup, some of us have things to do with our weekends! Oh, but speak of the devil, there’s movement from the Gryffindor seeker—and another goal for Hufflepuff! The quaffle is back in play, a fumbled pass by Gryffindor neatly caught by the lovely Miss Peixes, but—Oh! Oh, no! I’ve never seen the like of—

A bludger came flying from behind the goals, clipped Feferi Peixes and took out one of Gryffindor’s beaters with a solid smack to the head! Alfred Jones is heading to ground on the referee’s orders, and there is blood gushing—you can all see this, you’re looking at this, right?! Oh, I’m suddenly glad I’m sitting down. I feel a bit sick. Alfred’s waving the referee off, I can’t make out what he’s saying but from rudimentary lip-reading it looks like he’s sure he’s fine to play on! He’s been sending every bludger he can towards the Hufflepuff team this match, I can’t help but think this is some kind of karma! Peixes is rubbing her shoulder, I wonder if that knock is going to affect the rest of her game? Everyone’s wondering where that bludger came from, Ellis and Tavros Nitram are shaking their heads at each other, they don’t know, but why would they hit a bludger towards their own teammate anyway?! No fouls are being called, Alfred is back on his broom and back in the game, but with one injured player on both sides, the question on everyone’s mind must be what could happen next?

Keith Jones has the quaffle, and the Gryffindor seeker is taking a dive, the Hufflepuff seeker close on their tail! Is this it? I think it might be, could it be, it is! Gryffindor is in hot pursuit of the snitch, the tiny winged ball leading the seekers on a merry chase around the stands! I almost can’t contain my excitement here, folks!

It’s over! It’s all over! Gryffindor have the snitch and the game ends with a score of 160 – 20, two injuries, no fatalities! What a game, and we’ll be seeing Gryffindor again in the final match against Ravenclaw!
