Open Office

WHO: Murdoc Ampora and ANYONE
TONE: WELCOMING, it can vary!!
RATING: PG-13
WHEN: May 7th
WHERE: Murdoc's Office
WHAT: With exams coming up, Murdoc is spending more time in his office. Both because he's grading papers and because as Head of Slytherin it's his solemn duty to guide his students through hard times yadda yadda. He's there to answer questions.
STATUS: Ongoing

Exams have been coming up a long time, but Murdoc isn't surprised to see the majority students in a flurry of anxiety and fear. Despite his eagerness to watch students who failed to prepare crash and burn, he decides it would be best to extend his office hours on the off chance that students of any house need a little extra tutoring. Of course, priority falls to students in Slytherin, he's here to assist them with their big life choices and to discuss potential careers. He may or may not be a little eager to send everyone off to the Ministry, but he's interested in hearing what students believe they're capable of.

Today in particular he's come prepared. He has a large mug of very strong coffee by his side as he idly skims through some practise exam papers. His door is open, so anyone walking by will see him looking less than impressed and just a little bit bored. If you have a question, student or professor alike, now is probably the best time to get his attention.

".. Ok." Murdoc couldn't be the only professor worrying for him, though as far as he was aware they were keeping things to themselves and only offering the kind of additional help they usually did. He took a seat as directed, first clasping his fingers over the arms, then drawing his hands into his lap.

"I think..." He spoke carefully, eyes lowered, his voice far more measured than usual - he was picking his words with far more care than he ever usually displayed. "I think.. I'm going to fail my examth, thir, and.. I don't know what to do about it."

There was no way this wasn't going to be awkward. He didn't spend all that time outside the office psyching himself up because he thought this was going to be an easy conversation. Even with his skewed social skills, Mituna knows this isn't the kind of talk a teacher wants to have with their student.

The question, simple as it is, isn't easy to answer, and there was an immediate twitch at the idea of being given 'allowances', even if he knew they'd do the same for anyone else. "It'th the theory oneth," he said eventually, expression twisting in consternation. "I can't thtay thtill for that fucking long."

Swearing aside.. at least he had a handle on his limitations. For the most part.

Mituna would be the first to point out the bullheaded pride of the Ampora family, even in front of his patriarch. Sometimes his brain-to-mouth filter just didn't know when to make him stop talking, usually when it came to swearing in front of the professors.

He thought Murdoc's suggestion over carefully - he was right, things like that would likely be more of a distraction than anything else - and the idea of written assignments..? Well, that was marginally less intimidating.

"I could have a break, right?"

It didn't mean he had to like it, or that he wouldn't complain about the inevitable. Still, as long as he passed his exams, what did it really matter? He was hardly going to pass them with flying colours, but just passing at all would be proof that letting him come back to school hadn't been a mistake.

He sank back in his seat a little, biting his lower lip as his brow furrowed. How long? That was a difficult thing to say.

"... How long could I get?"

Mituna actually perked up somewhat when he heard the suggestion - he really wasn't expecting to be offered that kind of leeway when it came to his exams. Despite Murdoc's manner, the boy had managed to become somewhat attached to him as a professor regardless.

"A whole hour? Theriouthly?" That would do. Probably.
