The full-body flinch Dirk did as Jake got his arms around Dirk's waist was a good indication of how much he wasn't prepared for such an enthusiastic hug. He recovered quickly, and nudged Jake's arm with an elbow. There was no point in glancing over his shoulder to try and get a look, not when Jake's face was pressed to his spine, so he just kept looking forward.
"No, that's just my face," he said, evenly. Jake was probably right, but he wasn't about to admit that.
