[Of course the first thing he's going to do upon finding out his parents are going away for a few days at the end of the holidays is organise a house party. In one of the rare occurrences when what he plans is actually what happens, he even has food and drink and some awesome music, and has already plied the neighbours with a bottle of wine so they'll not call the police when things inevitably get too loud.

He'd made sure everyone knew what he was doing, do you really want to miss this? Do you want to deal with his face after the holidays if you don't show up..?]

[She leans into him, comfortable despite it all. She's careful to wipe her nose on her own sleeve to avoid snotting all over his front, though.]

Yeah, well, Jake's been solidly out of reach since he set eyes on Rose, so we're both magnificently bad at this.

[He shrugs awkwardly into the hug.]

[She focuses on him as best she can, unsure exactly what he means.]

[Jane will probably regret this some time in her near future. Possibly as soon as tomorrow morning. Dirk is not fond of giving conventional compliments.]

Promise. Now c'mon, let's raid this place.

[Jane smiles vaguely and follows him, leaning on him a little more than usual as they make their way to the food.]

Did I say sorry, yet? 'cause I am. So sorry.

[Or something. He has no idea how to deal with this. So he's just going to make her a sandwich.]

[Jane leans on him.]

I wish we could all juss. Date Jake. That'd solve it all.

[He doesn't make her move, but he does nudge her as soon as the sandwich is complete.]

[Jane takes the sandwich and forces herself to take a bite, even if she isn't feeling all that great. Once it's in her stomach, though, she feels a little better.]

Dirk. W'll always be friends, right?
