Since when was kissing supposed to feel like this?! Sherlock lets his hands fall from John's face since they're obviously more in the way than helpful. He invests all his attention in working out the movement of John's lips and the way it makes him feel, working up to returning the motions to see if two people approaching this with technique is an even greater improvement on the first half.
This kind of science is a lot more... involved and interesting than he initially thought. Perhaps he was judging things a bit too harshly in the past. Or maybe it was just John. The distinction didn't really matter right now.]
