Holiday Ghost Event: Baby Britain

WHERE: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
WHAT: Due to visiting holiday ghosts, some students and staff find themselves living in the past...and a great deal younger than they're used to. But not all of them, so I hope they know how to babysit!

[Lyrl crouches and peers at him from around a column. Seeing that it's just a boy, it's all right, but ... ]

That's not English! Isn't this Britain? [Oh noes!]

[doctorkishitani]

[He peers right back, contemplating the question for a moment before offering the other boy a dismayed, concerned sort of frown.]

[In Japanese] Do you not speak Japanese?

[greenteengenius]

[Lyrl just stares at him for a long moment as though that will make the words make sense. Normally he can figure things out, but foreign languages? Not so much.]

Look. I [he pauses] am lost. [He points to himself and then shrugs.]

[doctorkishitani]

[Shinra observes the pointing and gives Lyrl a very serious nod. He then also points at Lyrl because they are talking about Lyrl. Yes! They are communicating splendidly.]

[Lyrl buries his head in a hand. That didn't work at all.

He looks around but Shinra doesn't seem to come with an adult. If he's getting along by himself without speaking English, does that mean Lyrl is the odd one out? Does everyone speak foreign here? Why would a bunch of foreign wizards kidnap him?

Oh well, he'll try again.]

Are you supposed to be here? Is this your home? [He tries pointing at Shinra and then down at the ground.]

[Shinra also looks around, assuming Lyrl had seen whatever he was running away from and trying to catch a glimpse of it himself. When that fails, he turns back to Lyrl, listening very closely before mirroring the other boy's actions. Did he want him to sit down? That was rather strange, especially considering that something might have been chasing them.

He points down the corridor before, peering inquisitively at Lyrl as he does.]

[greenteengenius]

What? [Lyrl turns around quickly, but there's nothing there. He turns back slowly.]

Oh. There were talking paintings. You know. [He does jazz hands and makes a face.] Blah!

[doctorkishitani]

[He can't help but laugh at the jazz hands. That was very amusing. He likes this strange boy. It's official.

But at the same time, there was obviously something down that corridor that was very alarming. He glances over in that direction for a moment before deciding that they were probably best off as far away from that general area as possible. With that, he holds his hand out to Lyrl, hoping to lead him away from the scary corridor.]

[Laughing? But it's not funny at all! Lyrl pouts and blinks at the offered hand for a moment, but Shinra might know the way out of here. So he takes the hand and is ready to follow, but is also ready to bolt again if there's danger.

This is a wizard's place after all!]

[doctorkishitani]

[Shinra has no idea of where he's going, but he's fairly sure that if they walk away from wherever it is that Lyrl came from, they'd be alright. Yes. This is a good plan.

He looks up at Lyrl, smiling encouragingly as he leads him down the hall and towards a flight of stairs.]

[greenteengenius]

[Lyrl follows, trying to size up the other boy. He's obviously younger, so maybe Lyrl shouldn't be following him, but he seems confident enough. And so long as the stairs are going down they may get out of here.]

[He whispers] Try to be quiet. [He puts a finger to his lips. They have to sneak out of here.]

[He stops in his tracks when the other boy speaks and turns to watch him very closely. His eyes widen slightly in understanding as Lyrl raises his finger to his lips and he immediately offers him a very serious nod. Right. They need to be quiet. He can do that.

Shinra then turns to lead Lyrl down the stairs, but pauses when the staircase begins to move. He follows its path with his gaze for a moment before turning back to Lyrl, peering at him inquisitively. ]
