Let's Play the Wishing Game!
WHO: Alfred F. Jones and Arthur Kirkland
TONE: TEENAGE FEELS. YOU GUYS. YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND...
RATING: PG-13? oOo Idk.
WHEN: September 27th
WHERE: School. :V No but really. Potions class. Leaving it, rather.
WHAT: Arguments ensue, and then there's a wish. Oopsies that could be dangerous.
STATUS: Ongoing
Alfred was in a state of exasperation by the time the Potions class let out. Normally it was like that anyway, given that he felt less than comfortable around Professor Rhydderch, but this time it was worse. Perhaps it was fortuitous circumstance...or maybe it would have been if this were Charms or something he knew better...but he'd been paired with Arthur, and as usual, he'd found a way to screw up the potion. This time it didn't just affect his grade though, and he really did feel bad, so he'd done his best to restart and rectify his mistake. Arthur had probably done most of the fixing if he had to admit it though...
"Look, it wasn't on purpose okay?!" he attempted to defend himself as they left the class. "It's just that I'm shit with measurements and I did the one for the Valerian root wrong. I get it! Would you let it go?! We managed to fix it didn't we??"
Barely.

Barely.

He didn't shy away at all, he really did want to kiss Arthur, so he worked off instinct a little and let one hand slowly wrap around the shorter teen's waist, coaxing him closer and returning the kiss tentatively...almost afraid of scaring Arthur off.
no subject
It wasn't like when he'd kissed Gamzee, or Eriq. Those times had been experimental at best and although nerve-wracking there had been no real.. emotion behind it. This was different. He felt warm all the way from the light flush on his cheeks right down to the ground, and that arm wrapping around him had a tingling chill racing down his spine.
His fingers curled around the back of Alfred's neck, thumb brushing through the short hairs there, and he pushed himself up onto his toes. It felt.. good. It really did.

Or...as much advantage as he felt was proper, because he didn't want to make Arthur uncomfortable. But the other boy didn't seem uncomfortable, not with the way he was pushing himself closer. Alfred couldn't help but shiver when Arthur's thumb tickled against his neck, and he let out a contented murmur against the other's warm lips as they continued to kiss.
"Mmh..."
His own fingers curled, gripping at Arthur's robes without even a thought. All that mattered was the contact and how warm Arthur's face felt...his blush felt good, dammit!
no subject
"What am I doing?" he said, still blushing, though for a different (if very much related) reason. He frowned, huffed, and shifted back slightly, swallowing once. "I don't.."
Well, that wasn't precisely true, he did want to kiss him, but he didn't know why, he just knew that his heart was pounding and he didn't entirely mind this at all.
"You slipped me something in Potions, didn't you."
no subject
"I...no, I didn't. Even if I did, it wouldn't work right. I'm shit at Potions, remember? I'd probably make you sick sooner than...make you kiss me."
He flicked a look at Arthur, cerulean eyes locking with emerald ones, and his fingers lingered over his lips idly, like he was trying to hide a smile. Except he wasn't smiling. this was weird.
"That was all you, Arts. And...I really liked it."
no subject
"You are rather bad at Potions," he admitted, frowning very slightly as their gazes locked. "I'll grant you that."
His fingers flexed by his sides, and he swallowed. Okay, they'd kissed, and he'd.. actually enjoyed it. Part of him still disliked Alfred and was wondering what the hell happened, but the rest..? Silently, he wished he could just make his mind up, and then suddenly it all became incredibly clear.
".. I liked it as well."
no subject
He shook his head, breaking off his gaze because for this he couldn't bear to keep the contact. Better now than never. He had been planning to wait longer, but the longer he did, the more he thought this wasn't going to work out anyway. And seeing as Arthur had enjoyed the kiss that much...seeing as maybe they could go somewhere with this...
"Maybe the right question to ask...is just...look. I liked kissing you, and you said you liked kissing me. You don't hate me, and I sure don't hate you. In fact, I like you a lot. I'd...um. I'd go so far as to say...the other word. You know."
Alfred shifted uncomfortably here, and he could swear...his heart was echoing through the entire castle, and he thought he might faint. But heroes don't faint, that's STUPID.
"That I love you. Cuz I really am fond of you. So...I...well, Arthur would you just maybe go out with me? Like. Date me? We don't have to be all squishy and all that, but...would you be my boyfriend? Please?"
Why had that been so hard? Why was it still so hard? Why did he feel so sick right now, it was a simple yes or no question, and it didn't have anything to do with life or death. So why was he so scared?
no subject
Well, maybe that was generous, he always sounded like an idiot, but this time he was at least managing to make sense.
"You don't love me, don't be stupid," he retorted, though he could feel his cheeks heating up. He certainly didn't love Alfred. Liking him, he would admit to, but not that. Definitely not. Arthur looked away with a scowl, folding his arms and hunching his shoulders.
"... Fine. I will, but if you mess up.." He left it hanging there, fingers curled around his elbows and gripping hard.

He stopped talking as soon as it sunk in that Arthur had just said yes to him. Yes, they could be boyfriends. They were really going to be dating!
DATING.
Without thinking, Alfred moved forward and hugged Arthur tightly. He could only hope that the other teen wasn't going to knee him in the crotch for something as simple as a hug, because quite honestly, the taller boy couldn't help himself. He was just so happy!
"I promise, I'm not going to mess it up! I'm going to be sooo good to you! I promise, I promise, I PROMISE!" he all but squealed.
no subject
The suddenness of the hug makes him squeak, and there was almost - almost - an instant reaction of kneeing him where it hurt, but he didn't, he just stood there awkwardly with his shoulders held tense and carefully patted Alfred on the back.
"Alright, alright. You're being embarrassing, pack it in."
no subject
He did pull back from the hug a little though, loosening his grip just enough to give Arthur a sideways glance and let his arms drape over the teen's shoulders.
"Hush, I'm excited! Now kiss me, you fine thing!" he teased, though of course he made no move to actually kiss Arthur, other than to playfully bump foreheads with him. He had SOME respect for boundaries, however slight.
no subject
"I'd appreciate it if you didn't go telling all and sundry about this," he said then, frowning up at him.
"If you can possibly manage that."
no subject
He hummed thoughtfully, then rolled his eyes with a bemused smirk.
"I want to say I have a boyfriend. Can I at least do that? The school ought to know that I'm off the market, right?" he asked, though mostly he was just making an excuse. He wanted to be all proud about this. Not brag, just...be happy.
no subject
Arthur had no idea at that moment how much he would later regret giving Alfred that kind of permission, but at the moment, he didn't see the harm in it.
