WHO: Bruce and YOU

WHEN: First morning back at school
WHERE: Just outside the Great Hall
WHAT: It's the morning after full moon weekend and Bruce is more than a bit exhausted. He might be more irritable and absent-minded than usual, so what's stopping you from bugging him?
STATUS: Ongoing

Full moon is never fun for Bruce but adding the stress of travel to it had left him more fatigued than usual. If anyone had seen him the day before and how dishevelled he looked then, they'd think he was ready to keel over and die at any second now. All colour was gone from his face save for the even darker shadows around his eyes and the red in his lips, and was that perhaps a glint of green in his eyes when he walked through a beam of sunlight? He needed food but he wasn't too sure he was up to being around people that day, so he hesitated and stared at the entrance of the Great Hall, leaning against a wall for support.

Tony comes up from the dungeons giving a big yawn, having fallen asleep awkwardly on an armchair with a heavy book as he was reading ahead in potions. He sees Bruce leaning against the wall, and checks his watch.

He comes up behind Bruce and gets a hold of his shoulders and starts guiding him towards the great halls doors. He yawns again, having yet to even think about talking.

Bruce flailed when Tony started moving him, protesting weakly, "Oh come on, you can eat by yourself-"

Tony takes one hand away from Bruce's shoulder long enough to wipe at an eye before going back to pushing him.

"Yeah, but it's only going to end up in someone for telling me off for not eating enough. So you have to monitor me while you eat too."

Tony drives him towards Ravenclaw's table.

"At least we get to keep our table"

Bruce grumbles as he's pushed, but he just doesn't have it in him to struggle properly, so he let's himself be guided to their table, slouching down into his seat and nearly face-planting into the eggs.

He takes a moment to sip some juice before commenting, "I thought you liked Slytherin girls - isn't it easier to flirt with them over food?"

"I do like Slytherin girls, they're feisty. But I was clung to on a train in an awkward position and slept for about 20 - 30 minutes in the worlds most pointless armchair with one of my bigger potions book making sure I've gotten all the reading out of the way. I've got other things on my mind than girls right now."

Tony seemingly is having no problem piling his plate with scrambled eggs and bacon. Clearly having only pushed Bruce in so he'd actually eat something.

"Also, I realised that I bought the wrong part for the car too, so I had to send Happy to tell Jarvis at 4. You know they really need to light the owlry better."

He flushes a bit at Tony's mention of the train and mumbles into his goblet, "You could've shoved me off..."

Bruce stares at the food in front of him and sighs, knowing he should eat properly but getting a small piece of toast instead. He doesn't bother to butter it or anything, and just nibbles on a corner. "They don't light the owlry at 4 in the morning because it's 4 in the morning. You're not supposed to be out and about at that hour."

"I know better than to shove you off when you grab me when you're asleep."

Tony frowns at the table'a lack of coffee, and pours a large goblet of orange juice and drinks it.

"I'm not supposed to many things. But I do. I didn't get caught so it's not that big of a deal."

"Sometime this year I get the feeling I'm going to be giving you a lot of detentions for that..."

He keeps nibbling at the toast but it's mostly for show.

Tony looks at Bruce with a mouth full of egg and bacon hanging out his mouth. Giving him a 'You have got to be kidding me' look.

Bruce grimaces at the look, and his appetite's gone, toast placed back on his plate. "Close your mouth, sicko. And I'm a Prefect, so there."

He chews and swallows up what he has.

"You're killing me. Are you seriously going to call me on everything I've always done? Because really, It'll break my heart. And do you really want to deal with a Broken hearted me?"

He smiles crookedly, pushing his plate away to make room for his arms to pillow his cheek on. "You break enough hearts as is, might as well see what's it's like to have it done to you right?"

"I know I said this last night, but honest to god, Bruce, you look like absolute shit."

Arthur never slept well the first week of school, too used to being on high alert for pranks and such from certain boisterous family members, and although he knew they were no longer there, old habits died hard. He paused next to Bruce, concern for the other boy currently outweighing his want for breakfast, and that concern only increased when he realised that the other was actually needing to lean against the wall.

He'd noticed that glint of green, too, just like on the train..

"... Really, you look awful, have you seen a nurse?"

"Believe me. It's not even remotely fun."

Tony finishes his juice and goes to refill it.

"Besides, it's not like I'm ever doing anything wrong."

Bruce glanced up tiredly at Arthur and attempted a smile, removing his glasses for a moment to rub his eyes. "Good morning to you too," he answered tiredly, mentally steeling himself as he straightened for the wall and started walking for the entrance, deliberately not answering Arthur's question.

[Natasha is on her way for toast.]

Did you have an all night study session already?

"Er.. yeah. Morning.." Arthur rubbed the back of his neck and hung back slightly, a small frown on his face.

Normally, he'd be more annoyed than this, but.. something about having a guy sleep on your lap for four hours on a train just took away the ability to be angry at them. For now, at least. So, instead, he straightened his robes and made a few quick steps to catch up, falling into step beside him silently.

"I never said it was." Yawning, he closed his eyes, clearly ready to nap. "You're doing plenty wrong in terms of diplomacy."

[Twitches a smile at that, staying against the wall.]

Maybe I was kept up by the Slytherin kids?

Once inside, Bruce paused to glance at the tables, most of them fairly empty due to the early hour and students not yet adjusted to the school schedule. "Hmm, want to join me at Ravenclaw or should I come sit with you at your table?"

With a quiet yawn, he began to scratch at a red weal on his nape just above his collar, waiting for Arthur's response.

[She gives him a questioning look with a raised brow.]

How? It's not like they're an interesting crowd.

Some of them can be - I mean, Gamzee's a genius when it comes to potions once you get him to talk about it.

It could be guessed, from the expression on Arthur's face, that the question was unexpected. He looked startled for a moment and glanced from one table to the other, then shrugged one shoulder and yes.. yes he did see how Bruce was rubbing at that mark on his neck and he adds it to his mental list of things that are very off about the other boy this morning.

"... I'll come and sit with you," he said, a tiny smile twitching at his lips. David used to make him the same offer, in Arthur's first year. "Thanks."

Well you look a bit peaky. Don't let them or Tony keep you up a second night.

I won't.

[Smiles wanly, covering a yawn with his hand.]

So, had breakfast yet?
