When the cat is away, the mice will play

Who: anyone in the student body
Tone: PARTY
Rating: PG-13 for potty mouths
When: During the teachers' trip
Where: Casa Strider (Old Compton Street, Soho, London)
What: Dave invited everyone over to a party while Bro's gone.
Status: Ongoing

Since this was open for anyone to come at any time for any amount of time, I'm going to make separate threads for Monday-Friday and you can start threads or comment on other peoples' threads whenever your character would be there!

The flat is a one-bedroom flat, so almost everyone who comes will either be on the floor in Dirk and Dave's room (or sharing a bed with/sleeping in a bed instead of one of the boys), or else out in the living room/kitchen/Bro's room. Dave doesn't particularly care where you sleep, so long as moaning is kept to a minimum.

People can also go up on the roof to party, accessed by crawling out of the boys' bedroom window and up the fire escape, but I wouldn't suggest sleeping up there unless you want to wake up covered in pigeon shit.

Dave will be manning the turntables, music-wise, or else playing things from his computer. There's also a TV with video game systems, including ones that can play DVDs. He'll also be watching the drinks to make sure no one slips anyone anything. Purebloods will probably be in for some culture shock.

Ughh, are you serious? Which one is he again? I'll beat him up for you. What a dick. He shouldn't be allowed to act like that, and you shouldn't have to deal with it either. I can hold, you punch, if you want.

Hahaha! He's the ex-auror who teaches DADA. There's no way we could actually do that. (Hehehehe) We'd just get both our houses in trouble.

Don't worry about it. I already had a plan to get justice, but he took one look at my handwriting and got back with the program. We're ok for the moment.

If you don't get sorted into Gryffindor, I'll owe you five pounds--er, a galleon.

Hah, you showed him. Keep him in line, and if he starts acting up again tell me and we can put tacks in his chair when he's not around.

What's a galleon? What would you have me owe you if I didn't get sorted into Gryffindor? Although, that's the one I want to be in, there's no way of actually knowing which house you'll get I guess...

(Hehehe)[Big grin, but no confirmation on this plan.]

It's wizarding money. A galleon's about equal to five pounds. Wizards have to have their own monetary system for some strange reason? But uh, hm. I think there are sixteen or seventeen sickles in a galleon, and a galleon's also almost five hundred knuts. Not actually five hundred, because that would make things easy, but something in that range. You'll find out more when it's time to buy your school stuff.

Hm? Oh, nothing I guess. My complete and utter disbelief will be more than equal recompense. (Hehehehe)

That sounds like it's unnecessarily complex. When my uncle's home, I'll ask him about it. Surely he's got some wizard money somewhere. This entire time I've been thinking I could just use my pounds to buy my school supplies. Does the wizard bank convert currencies? Because I don't have any...

[And he'd honestly feel bad about his uncle having to fork the money over himself.]

Do I really seem like I'd fit in there? What house are you in, anyway?

Yeah, I don't know why they never stopped to think, "Hey, what if somebody actually wanted to use this system? Some real person, who isn't a walking calculator." But the bank converts all the time, yeah. Don't worry about that.

Very direct, needlessly combative, doesn't think things through... You're perfect! (Hehehehehe)

I'm a Slytherin.

There's that, at least. It still doesn't seem very efficient at all, but from what I've read it sounds like most of these wizarding types are stuck in the fifteenth century.

Fantastic. Surely being a genius fits in there too, doesn't it?

[He's totally not being a bit egotistical about his intelligence, nope. Not at all.]

One of my friends mentioned something about that house a while ago. What's it like?

Pretty much. In some ways it's really neat, in others it's really, really annoying.

I think it has more to do with your attitude than your abilities, though I'm sure those get factored in too. So, a genius, hm?

We're the house for the subtler types. I like the atmosphere. It's more low-key than some of the other houses. I think we tend to aim a bit higher in our ambitions too, though perhaps be less "realistic" about them. Hm. Oh, and be careful when picking a fight with one of us. We can play dirty. The one thing I dislike about it is the colors. Gryffindor has the best house colors. Theirs always make me think of delicious cherry cough syrup, and honey; ours always remind me of spinach and metal. It's a gross taste.

Oh yeah. I could put university students to shame and throw down some knowledge.

I see. That definitely gives me some insight on you, although we've just met. Are you going to keep me on my toes, miss? What's your name, anyway? I don't think we've met. I'm assuming you know my bro, though, since you came here. Although that's not a fair assumption considering he invited everyone...

I'm Dirk.
