It was safe to say that it had been the single best birthday party of Tav's life. He'd never expected Equius to put on a dress. In front of people. Or to even go to his party in the first place. But he had, and it had been pretty awesome. Being surrounded by all of his friends had done wonders for making him feel better after how sad he'd been ever since the tower. Overall, Tavros was definitely feeling better.

Karkat doing this for him was just the cherry on top of a perfect night. He was a little nervous about sneaking out, mainly because he was scared of getting caught since Karkat didn't have one of those cool silencing potions like Gamzee did. But they made it! And Tavros was so excited it was nearly radiating in physical waves.

When Karkat pulled the present out of his bag, Tavros looked very surprised. He didn't think Karkat had gotten him anything (which was completely and totally fine! Because having Karkat was a present himself, the best one.) since he'd not given anything to him at the party. "Oh, you... I- I mean, you didn't have to..." His face was a little red then, as he took the gift from Karkat. He was too caught off guard by the fact, and feeling too bad that Karkat had actually got him something, that he didn't immediately start opening it, and instead stared at Karkat, and then down at the present.
