[Roderich is honestly out of his element, but he's poised as hell. He's rather good at charms, but he's far more concerned about his ability to strategize on the fly. But he'll never let on. He certainly doesn't look tough, per se, but he has an aura about him that makes him look unshakable.

He draws his wand, raising both hands--

No, Roderich, you are NOT about to conduct.

He lowers his left hand, using it only for balance in preparation of a hit. Quietly, as if nothing was strange about nearly looking like he was about to cue an ensemble.]

Bist du be-- [What on earth. He can't quite remember the last time he slipped back into German other than expressing anger. But there's no indication of his frustration with this aside from him briefly closing his eyes. He opens them again coolly.] Are you ready?

[Tony plays to the crowd as get's on stage, still a little excitable due to his win with the Ravenclaw team on the weekend. For the most part he pays little to no attention to his opponent. When he's ready, he turns to face Roderich. His stance is easy and unbothered by the whole situation.

As both Roderich's hands go up, Tony's eyebrow joins them. And he smirks.]

Really thinking this isn't what you really want to be doing here. Wow, this could get really embarrassing, huh?

[Taking out his own wand, Tony takes out his wand and then bows to Roderich, signalling he's ready.]

[Roderich narrows his eyes at the comment. That kind of provocation was exactly what landed him here in the first place, and what insulted him enough to want to fight.]

I wouldn't have signed up if I didn't want to be here; how ridiculous.

[With a deep breath, his nerves are forgotten for a moment, and he returns the bow properly before raising his wand again.]

...Obscuro!

[Barring any deflections, the spell is accurate to its target, blindfolding Tony until he's able to remove it. Tense, Roderich thinks back to his recent studying and review. Quietly as he can in attempt to still keep his location hidden, he sends a stinging hex towards Tony, and it's headed for his shoulder.]

[Instead of replying Tony just smirked at him, as the first spell comes his way, the boy wastes no time in flicking his wand up.]

Protego

[And while he managed to protect himself from being blindfoded, he still got caught with the stinging hex, and hisses sharply before looking at Roderich, looking like now he was ready to play. Swishing his wand at the other boy.]

Aqua Eructo

[Sending a jet of water shooting out toward the other's head.]

[He winces, seeing his first charm fail, but it's at least a bit of a comfort to see the second hit. And, hey, he's not exactly above taking ideas...]

Protego-

[It's at least semi-effective. He still takes the hit; his shield was conjured too quickly to block the attack completely. He's still left with a good deal of water in his face, leaving him coughing for air but not quite pushing him back.]

Chi... [Between coughs.] Chiroptera oppugno!

[...Bats. Bats, everywhere. Well, not really everywhere, if they're all headed at Tony... And oh that lovely screeching noise...!]

Oh yeah, you look good wet. Maybe in summer we can hold wet T-Shirt contests.

[He smirks before scrunching his face a little at all the noise the bats were making, He raises his wand to them.]

Immobilus

[The bats stop in mid-air.]

Don't really have your heart in this do you? Locomotor

[He flicks his wand from the bats to Roderich sharply, sending the bats hurtling towards him.]

[What in the hell --] If we're in a situation that's supposedly dignified enough to require bowing then I hardly think such crass words are--

[Shit. Don't get distracted, don't let him have the upper hand just because he's rude--]

[The bats are blown back towards Tony, and...]

Expulso!

[Perhaps he said it too soon - the bats explode into flames, but he can't tell from where he is if they're close enough to their original target to have done any damage. There's a brief pout, remembering his pet bat back home and cursing himself for doing such a thing to a group of innocent bats...]

[Tony raises his arm to shield his face from bits of flaming bat.]

Did you really just explode bats at m-

[Looking at his arm he realises that his sleeve has caught on fire. Looking surprised he pats it out.]

Okay.

[His flicks his wand sharply at him.]

Silencio

[Unsurprisingly Tony doesn't want Roderich saying any more spells. Then flicks his wand again.]

It was an impulse, I-- [He still feels remorse for it, keeps thinking of his pet; it was like witnessing fifty little innocent Eisensteins just bursting into flames but

Oh. Well there's no real opportunity to apologize for that now that he can't speak, is there? For being so unintentionally morbid, that is, not for dueling. He wanted to show him a proper fight, not a horror film oh my god those poor bats

His wand. Well, clearly, he can't curse in frustration, so he only makes a weird, ungraceful attempt at it, and if one didn't know, they may think he is about to vomit. He retrieves it as it doesn't fall too far off from him, but damned if he has any experience with wordless charms. He closes his eyes to focus and points his wand at his opponent, trying to at least think the disarming charm hard enough that it might by some stroke of luck work.

It doesn't.]

[When the charm doesn't work. Tony straightens up, bows, then comes over to Roderich and offers his hand and a grin.]

Hey, that was pretty good. Maybe next time, don't go with bats.

And, that silencing charm should work for a half hour at most... Probably.
