The next morning he had been startled to discover well, himself sitting on his trunk.]
"Getting up in the morning? You're the lamest vampire ever." it smirked.
Marshall scowled. "I don't know who or what you are but piss off."
The figure stood up and stepped more in light of the room. It definitely was Marshall but this Marshall practically screamed "I'm a vampire." This one had a more feral gleam in his eyes and a slightly bloodstained mouth. The real Marshall recoiled in disgust and the shadow-Marshall laughed.]
"Do I scare you Marshall Lee? Do I remind you of what you really are?"
"I'm nothing like you" the real Marshall scowled.
"Oh, you're a lot more like me than you think you are." the shadow purred. "You act like you're so much better than other vampires, but keep in mind that you've done some pretty awful things yourself. Remember?"
Marshall did remember and he didn't want to. He scowled.
"Maybe so but that's in the past. I want to be a better person."
The shadow-Marshall gave a short bark of laughter.
"You keep forgetting one thing though..you're not a person. You're a vampire. Vampires have instincts. You would be a lot better off if you just quit pretending to be human and started being what you actually are."
The shadows statement hit Marshall hard and he paused for a moment before scowling and turning to head out the door.
"Fuck you. You don't know me. I'm out."
He gets up and leaves with his shadow-self following closely behind making comments the entire way.
"You'll break some day Marshall Lee. Trust me..."
up to you if he hears anything about the vampire bit!
He passes by, mostly focused on minding his own business but he stops in his tracks, hearing all of the things said by the shadow nearby. He looks over at Marshall.]
... You've got one too. Where on earth are they coming from??
[His own speaks up. I've always been here, I didn't have to come from anywhere. I'm just you. Is that so hard to realize?]
He can! It would be hard to miss since the shadow is outright talking about it..lol
"You can see it? ....and hear it too I suppose?"
[Shadow-Marshall laughs openly flashing bloodstained fangs.]"Looks like one more knows your little secret. Not that you'd be able to keep it secret for long. We both know that deep down inside you'd eventually have to leave and stop pretending. Awww..too bad."
[Marshall scowls at it.]
"You shut up."
[He turns to Roderick and sighs again.]
"I think we're going to have to talk...."
Haha okay! Just wasn't sure when he'd walk in on the conversation.
...I can. They seem to be bringing up everything we're afraid of, right? At least... that's what mine is doing. Halloween is over, it's... not funny.
[There's a silence. He looks cautious, but sympathetic, withholding judgment.]
If you did want to talk, that's fine.
...It's not lying, is it.
no subject
"I guess they are. Mine definately seems to be doing that."
[He sees the hesitation in the other boy and he slumps a little.]
"Well, I don't really want to but I think I'm going to have to. I never considered it lying but I guess I could see how other people would.."
[Shadow-Marshall clucked it's tongue.] Oh no, you're lying to everyone. A lie by omission maybe but it's still a lie. You walk around here pretending to be human, befriending them and inevitably betraying them when they find out what you are. I bet your friend there is already starting to worry if you'll take a bite out of him."
[Marshall turns to the shadow and snaps at it.]
"I do NOT feed off of people so SHUT IT!"
no subject
....I'm not worried, really, I... [How can you not be?
He pauses to collect his thoughts, glad that Marshall can't hear that.]
I mean. Is it something that tempts you to do? Feeding, I mean. If there's... no urge, then... I don't really see the problem.
[Are you stupid? Have you read anything? Of course he has to. I'd start researching, but be careful who sees you. You might look like a coward.]
no subject
[He glares at the shadow who giggles mirthfully.] That's just sad. [Marshall decides to just ignore the shadow and focus on trying to explain things to Roderich.]
No, I take a potion that curbs bloodlust and I can survive on that. I've never liked the idea of feeding off of people honestly. [His lips quirk in an almost apologetic smile.]
As the thing over there has been saying...I'm kind of a lame vampire.

I'm not sure there has to be a difference. If you are one, it doesn't really change anything, does it? [It does, and you know it better than anyone else; you're torn between two worlds too. If you choose make your living in the muggle world, you have to abandon all your friends here. Especially those in Slytherin with you - what would they think?]
...In any case, you're probably lucky that you have a clear idea of what you want and don't want.
no subject
I'd like to think it doesn't change much but I don't think some people would feel the same. Some vampires fully embrace being what they are, I never could though. I just continue being my old self. I've just been me a hell of a long time.
[He notices Roderich seems to be looking at something nearby. Marshall can't see what it might be but the other boy had mentioned having one too.]
If you don't mind me asking...what's your saying? I can't see it.
no subject
...Some people might not. Up to you whether they're worth your time, though. There are always advantages to keeping friends around even if you think they might treat you differently, but facades are rather exhausting. [Don't you know it. Hahahah, don't you know it...
His face colors and he looks at Marshall indignantly.] I fail to see how that is any of your busin--
[You only take, you don't give. Why do you think he can't see me? It's because you've only been fake to everyone but a select few. This guy's shared all of that with you and you could care less, couldn't you?
He clears his throat.] I'm... sorry. It's -- well, without going into too much detail, it... well, I'm not a pureblood, for one. I don't talk about it much, especially considering what house we're in, but. And it's part of the reason my mother is pushing so much for me to stay in the wizarding world, even though... for the life of me, I can't see anything wrong with making my career in the muggle world, either.
no subject
[He kind of deflates at the mention of facades and gives a sad smile.] Yeah..it's hard sometimes but I really like it here and I like everyone I've met and made friends with. I'd like to hold on to it a little longer.
[He listens attentively to try and make Roderich focus less on the shadow. They're actually a lot more alike than he thought.]
Things like that really don't matter in the end. I'm not a Pureblood either..or rather I wasn't when I was alive and I still ended up in Slytherin. Slytherins have ambition and drive and you obviously possess those traits or you wouldn't be there. I think that trumps blood status. Besides, who says you can't dabble in both? Outside of school I play in both Muggle and Wizarding clubs. I think it helps broaden my musical perspective.
no subject
He snaps back, even if Marshall can't hear the comment that spurred it, or see what he's yelling at.] I'm not lazy!! I'm just not used to being independent yet --
...I'm sorry. Likely, it's obvious what it was accusing me of. But... thank you. I have the exact same view, really. I learned a lot more about music from the Muggle end of things than I did from the Wizarding end. It's more intellectually stimulating when there's no magical aid; it's... more fascinating, that people can write this music without it. They don't make songbirds sing to give them ideas, they have to wait for the songbirds to sing, for their inner muses to speak.
I don't see why it's so wrong to think using magic takes the fun out of it. My mother just wants me to stay in the Wizarding world no matter what, and... I'm starting to think it's because she regrets marrying a muggle.
no subject
It's all right. I don't judge and whatever it's accusing you of it's full of shit.
[His own shadow laughed.] If anyone is full of shit Marshall Lee it's you. Look at you trying to be a cheerleader. You're a monster and that's what you'll always be.
[Marshall snaps and turns snarling to the shadow.] If I snap on anything it's going to be you![He recovers his composure and sighs deeply.] Sorry..I'm just so sick of hearing it..
Anyways...I've never used magic for music. I've always done things on my own. Music is a really personal thing and I've always felt that it should come from inside of you. Magical aid seems like cheating.
[He gets a little quiet at Roderichs comment about his mother. When he speaks his voice sounds far away as if he's remembering something.]
I don't think that's the case. I think she probably just wants what she feels is best for you. Sometimes though..you just have to go your own way..even if you end up hurting the people that love you.
