[Slowly, Tony raises an eyebrow at both Sherlock. His gaze flicking between the two as the other spoke.]

Wait, hang on a second.

[He points at the not-actually-Sherlock, while looking at the-one-who-actually-is-Sherlock]

Smart member of the group. Okay, yeah not going to debate that one because. Well Grades point that out even more than my age and side projects. What functional? Me?

Let me guess, spell gone wrong and you need a teacher to fix it?

Something needs to be done, yes, but this is hardly my doing.

It is to some degree. If you just admitted to yourself that I'm right and you need to accept your limitations as much as work to overcome them, then I wouldn't have to be here in the first place.

[The shadow smiled at Tony.]

I doubt you have any real concerns about fitting in with people regardless of your issues. Take the compliment; you won't receive many from me.

How'd it happen?

I don't know. I just... it started as just an inkling and now it's this. All I know is that it began after the memorial. Past that I have no real theories beyond some sort of.. retaliation against those of pureblood.

Why can't it just be about you pretending to be a sociopath when it couldn't be further from the truth? You suck at sociopathy in all honesty. The only people who buy it are the ones who never bothered to look it up.

[Tony rolls up his note book then puts it into his back pocket as he rubs his neck.]

Can't be retaliation against Purebloods. Unless my family tree has been lying to me all these years, which it hasn't.

[He glances at the shade, with a raised eyebrow.]

Or you're continuing to grasp at straws because if I'm real, everything I've said is true. Surely the one can lead to confirmation of the other. You know I'm right. Admit it. You're terrified of what it would mean if people like Tony knew.

Mine didn't even pick a side till the last minute. They wanted to stay out of it. But then when you're in New York it's kind of easy to keep out of it.

[He properly looks at the shade, looking a little affronted.]

What is that supposed to mean? 'People like Tony'. If this is some American thing...

I've no real opinion of Americans. I mean to say you're one of the few people who tolerate Sherlock and maybe even respect him just a bit. He's somewhat fond of you himself. In his own way. And it would be somewhat devastating I would imagine if you thought less of him.

There nothing either of you could say that could surprise me about Sherlock, either.

[Sherlock arched his left brow. Friend?... huh... Still, that was a rather redundant wording...]

That almost makes it worse, doesn't it, Sherlock? That he wouldn't be surprised? You don't actually fool anyone. You being special needs is obvious to the intelligent lads of Ravenclaw. All that worry and you've been outed by the very disorder you try to hide.

Special needs? Disorder. I don't really think OCD is something to worry about. Hell, even I'm kind of like that. Probably more than kind of.

OCD is a co-existing condition. Fair to say plenty of you Ravenclaws have it judging by the state of your dorms. No, Tony, he's autistic; he has Aspergers. Bit more involved than just arranging socks by their prominent colors or arranging your school supplies just so.

I mean sure, it does something to my own ego that the only person I know that matches my level of intelligence is autistic. But what's the point of hiding it?

[Sherlock was angry. Not at Tony but there wasn't much he could do about being angry at his own shadow.]

With an ego the size of yours I shouldn't be surprised you can't fathom why it's not something to advertised. You get poor marks and you get scolded. I get poor marks and my teachers do for perhaps not being considerate enough to circumstances. It's a stigma without which I am much better off.

Teachers aside, the last time I was scolded, I was seven, because I was in my dads office looking at something. Since there, scoldings have about as much meaning to me as tea leaves in the bottom of a cup.

[Sherlock chuckled. God, Tony was dense... but not really. So it was an act. To make Sherlock feel better. Because Tony was always putting on a show in one fashion or another.]

You know what those tea leaves generally mean, anyway?

Actually, though, when you get down to the leaves at the bottom of your cup, the answer is universally the same. I means you're done with your tea.

[He smirks.]

Stupid 'seers' really should invest in a better tea strainer while on the subject. I mean, really. This may be Scotland but that's no excuse for a sloppy cup of tea.

So sorry we don't all sit around drinking fizzy pop all day. Surely you've had a proper tea at some point in your life.
