WHERE:  The Lake.
WHAT:  After this Murdoc realised the children (and staff) of Hogwarts were in dire need of swimming lessons.
STATUS: Ongoing

[GATHER AROUND CHILDREN it's a warm summer day and the lake is perfect for diving into your sudden but inevitable deaths. You should all be dressed in your swimming trunks (which you clearly have don't even lie) because Murdoc sure is. He's determined to conduct this in the best manner he can, though he wasn't quite expecting the turn out to be so large. People who can swim are welcome to become his assistants because he could probably use the help.]

[He certainly doesn't look like he's intending to swim, and like he's being bothered by something as he walks along the edge of the lake with his hands pushed into his pockets. At first, he doesn't even notice that it's one of the professors, then he double-takes when he sees the scars and blinks a few times.

Nope, not staring or anything. His eyes go straight back down to the ground and nope nope n o p e just carrying on walking..]

[She notices, of course. She's used to people staring when she's not covered up, and it's not like she wasn't expecting anything.

She sounds amused when she speaks, watching Arthur like a hawk.]

Something catch your eye, Kirkland?

[Oh God.

Arthur stops in his tracks, cringing slightly]

I just didn't recognise you, professor.

[arachnoble]

[Ehehehe. She grins widely, making a motion with her enchanted arm.]

There aren't that many people at school with silver arms, Kirkland. I fail to see how that isn't recognizable.

[Cough. Arthur glances over at her, flicking his gaze over her arm and then back to her face]

I honestly didn't even notice it..

[He clears his throat quietly]

But, ah.. since you're here, I was wondering if I might ask you about something.

[arachnoble]

[Color her curious. She can drop being a nuisance. For now.]

What is it, then?

I was wondering.. um. How did you get onto teaching, as a career path?

[arachnoble]

[A pause. She wasn't expecting that, of all questions.]

Well, when I lost my arm and eye I realized that being an auror wasn't really that great. Teaching seemed like the best option.

[rule_britannia]

[Arthur thinks about this, and rubs one hand lightly along his jaw]

It's just.. something that can be done, then? Assuming that you have enough expertise in a particular subject?

[He knows it's more difficult for muggles, that it can take years]

[Shrugging, Sybille turned to face him.]

Essentially? Yes. It varies teacher to teacher, but Hogwarts is a very accepting place. It's what Dumbledore always wanted it to be.

I see.. Thank you. That's precisely the kind of thing I was hoping to hear.

[She smiles slyly, regarding him for a moment.]

Are you interested in being a teacher, Kirkland?

[rule_britannia]

[He straightens up slightly, and clears his throat]

Yes, professor. I do believe I am.

[arachnoble]

[And now she's so terribly curious.]

Any idea what subject?

I had Charms in mind, actually...

She's going to...playfully swat his shoulder.]

He's startled, but he grins a little and chuckles quietly]

I thought you might say that.

What can I say? I'm horribly biased.

[He toes the ground for a moment]

A friend of mine suggested it, if I'm completely honest.

[She chuckles, a softer smile taking over.]

What brought about such a suggestion?

Ah.. I've been tutoring him.

[There's an awkward smile]

He seems to think I'm a good teacher.

[arachnoble]

And you won't divulge who this mysterious "him" is, are you? But he could be right.

Oh, of course.. I wasn't intending to be evasive. His name's Greg Lestrade.

[Raaaaises an eyebrow.]

He's in Hufflepuff, correct? His grades are quite decent...
